The book not only describes the human sacrifices but also the homosexuality in the priesthood of the central american and carribbean tribes that cortez encountered.
The combination of human sacrifice and homosexuality in the priesthood—was exactly like what Joshua and Moses encountered in Caanan.
Cortez reaction was much the same as that of Joshua and Moses.
