True, but how effectively can he put forward those positions when his own are known to contradict those of the President?
For instance, he should be strongly pushing the line that Mueller investigators can’t be trusted to be fair because they’re Democrat donors. That’s a message the WH needs out there in a big way.
But how is he going to build any momentum behind it, when the MSM response is just going to be “Well, you’re a Dem donor too yet here you are working for and trusted by a Republican President.”?
Harder to make a message of ‘Dem donor=unfair to the President’ stick when the person in charge of crafting the President’s message is himself a Dem donor.
