The recusal only makes sense if Sessions was bribed or blackmailed.

Or if I recused myself not because of any asserted wrongdoing on my part during the campaign, but because a Department of Justice regulation, 28 CFR 45.2, required it. That regulation states, in effect, that Department employees should not participate in investigations of a campaign if they have served as a campaign advisor.

14 lawyers making $500/hour?

I would be curious where this $500/hour figure comes from. With his appointment as Special Council, Mr. Mueller became a government employee as did the attorneys he hired. The Attorney General is paid at the top of the scale at around $210,000.00 a year (no overtime pay), and it is likely that the attorneys would be at a lower level on the pay scale.

I’m beyond disgusted! Mueller is seems doesn’t mind trading what’s left of his soul for an hourly rate.

Mr. Mueller and the assistants he hired were successful and highly compensated attorneys. I expect they were earning from half a million to two million per year. As government employees they will be earning less than $210,000.00 a year. I don't know about them, but for me, that type salary cut would be a clear incentive to finish my job as soon as possible. As for constraints on Mr. Mueller, he was appointed as a special counsel under a different statute than former special prosecutors and independent counsels. He does have to provide reports to and is under the supervision of the Assistant Attorney General. If he gets out of line, he can be removed for cause.

There is a lot of misinformation about and a lot of shooting from the hip (or the lip in some cases). I don't pretend to have any special knowledge of this case but I do know from experience than impatience and impulsive action are very dangerous when under attack. I have confidence that President Trump has not violated any criminal law and if that is true, this issue will play itself out unless he allows either his enemies or friends to provoke him into some foolish action.

Ok...so he isn’t doing it for the money. Then why? Do you not believe the stories out about expanding this into Trump’s private business?

Did Scooter Libby do anything wrong? I didn’t think so. I don’t trust this process. I bet it’s still going in 2018 and will be used to take back the Congress. Then what can we expect? Impeachment? I would’t put it past them.

Doesn’t Sessions control the purse strings. If his decision to recuse was based on how the two former Attorney Generals Holder and Lynch played significant roles skirting their constitutional duties by allowing and advising their boss Obama how to do so. He should make that clearly known.

Sessions is a fool and worried about his precious reputation, basically himself .
He took the DC insiders way out and recused himself based on a phony excuse from a DOJ ethics committee that was stocked with Obama
bot left wing lawyers .
He ran when the going got tough.
He created this mess and is still running .
Don't blame Trump .
If snowflake Sessions could not handle it then he should of walked not appoint Rosenstein , a DC swamp monster who was Mueller's former aide.

My take on this for whatever it is worth is the Democrats want nothing more than for Trump to fire Mueller. Even though he has the authority to do this the Liberals will scream obstruction to the high Heavens and will use this as a rally cry for first taking the House next year and then Impeachment.

The president is a fighter and fighting is exactly what he must do. To sit back and “allow the process to work” when the process is obviously corrupt is nothing more than suicide.

Trump has succeeded in focusing the folks on the depth of the “swamp” in DC and now he needs to highlight daily the obvious plan to take his Administration down.

The president has no worry about his future since he can simply go back to being one of the richest and most successful men in the world when his terms as president end. He does not have to be concerned with each word he utters and how the fake news media will react to it because the public has been well schooled by this president about what to expect from them. He simply needs to tell the truth and do so forcefully.

Now, this Mueller investigation with no limits and no time limits and no financial limits, Mueller can go investigate anything and in fact said he’s going to. He’s going to investigate Russians that rented apartments at Trump Tower all the way back in 2008, for crying out loud. Any Russian Trump has ever known or spoken to... What this really is is the biggest opposition research program that there’s ever been, sanctioned by taxpayer dollars.

You have all Obamaites and Clintonites that are Mueller’s lawyers here, 13 or 14 of them now. They have no limits on money, no limits on area, they can go anywhere, there are no time limits. They can dig up every bit of dirt there is on Donald Trump in preparation of the 2020 election. If nothing else comes of this, the oppo research that Mueller and his crew will create for the Democrats to use against Trump in 2020 is striking.

when Bloomberg News alleges that someone close to the investigation says they are expanding the inquiry, we seem to take it as gospel. So far, I haven't seen a statement from the Special Counsel detailing any substantive information about the investigation.

Both sides can play the fake news game.

I am sorry I didn’t reply earlier but had to get some sleep. I don’t know about the individual attorney’s motives but, just like President Trump, some people feel an obligation to serve when called

Unfortunately, when President Trump had his press interview following the firing of Comey and stated that he dismissed him because of the Russian investigation, there was no way to avoid a special prosecutor. The contradiction between that statement and the earlier explanations had to be resolved. This was not the first time he has caused himself problems and likely will not be the last. He is 71 years old and us old people rarely change. As supporters, we have to take the bad with the good and from my standpoint the good outweighs the bad.

I agree...and I’ll take the bad with the good. I just think that Mueller’s investigation should have had specific boundaries as far as socpe, time allotted, anad dollars spent.

Instead we’ve got a full fledged witch hunt from what I can see and paid for by the likes of you and me...unwillingly. And basically all over something manufactured by Hillary et al.

I do think Comey needed firing...he’s apparently been a dirty Clinton collaberator for some time.

Looks to me like Taxpayers are paying for the continuation of the Clinton Foundation.

As to firing Mueller, remember the old saying about being careful what you ask for because you might get it. If he is fired that would be just like pouring gasoline on a fire. Congress allowed the special prosecutor law to expire but could easily reauthorize it. We could then wind up with a much worse situation. Some things just have to run their course.

You can bet your a## that Trump expressed his disappointment with Sessions in private, only to find that it had zero effect. This public rebuke in the NYT was made because Sessions seems to need a megaphone after a quiet word did not work.

Far as I’m concerned we already have a gasoline fueled fire. Just saw some report...who knows if it’s true...that Mueller wants to look at Trump’s 2008!!! tax returns because he sold property to a Russian. Did Trump ever put Russian dressing on his salad? Oh SHOCKING COLLUSION!

Mueller’s orders by his real bosses are obviously to take out Trump....for anything they can make up out of nothing. The money men pulling the strings don’t want we the people to have an advocate. Period.
