Along with Washington DC, and Washington State, named after a white slave owner. Actually, this is a list of states named after men, so they must go:
- Delaware (Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr of England)
- Georgia (King George II of England)
- Louisiana (King Louis XIV of France)
- New York (Duke of York, Charles Stuart later King Charles I of England)
- North Carolina (King Charles I of England)
- Pennsylvania (William Penn of England)
- South Carolina (King Charles I of England)
- Washington (President George Washington)
This is a list of states named after women, so they can stay:
