Sikkim standoff at Doklam: In a stern message directed towards India, China has said that Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) have been waiting patiently at Doklam but will not do so for an indefinite period, according to Indian Express report. Beijing has conveyed this message to foreign diplomats. A few diplomats have conveyed this message to Indian counterparts in Chinese capital and Bhutanese counterparts in New Delhi. It has been learned that foreign diplomats were briefed about ongoing standoff during a closed-door briefing last week. China has also informed some of the G-20 countries about the situation, the report says. Last month, Indian Army blocked Chinese road works in Doklam and have since been in a faceoff with PLA troops. Beijing wants Indian troops must pull back. It has categorically said that the dispute was between China and Bhutan but the Indian soldiers have jumped in.
A diplomat from one of the P-5 (permanent members of the UN Security Council) countries, told The Indian Express that their colleagues in Beijing attended the briefing and were given the impression that the Chinese side will not be waiting for an indefinite period. This is quite worrying, and we have conveyed it to our Indian colleagues in Beijing and Bhutanese colleagues in Delhi, the diplomat was quoted as saying IE.
On the other hand, India has maintained that both the governments had reached agreement in 2012 that the trijunction boundary points between India, China and a third country will be finalised in consultation with the country concerned. Any attempt, therefore, to unilaterally determine trijunction points is in violation of this understanding, the Ministry of External Affairs said in its statement.
The Chinese also have conveyed diplomats that they have strong evidence to prove that Doklam belongs to them.
P!
On a more serious note, China is an expanding power. They are gobbling up territory, or trying to, in the Pacific and on the Indian frontier.
Their big play, in the coming decades, will be Siberia. It is empty and full of resources. The upcoming land grab in Siberia will force Russia to seek allies in the west.
In Orwellian terms, right now we are at war with Eurasia and Eastasia and always have been. Soon we will be at war with Eastasia and allied with Eurasia, as we always have been.
They have bought, but not yet received, nuclear capable fighter planes. In the meantime they are making do. As long as they look ready to use them, the Chinese will not attack.
I think China is looking for, what they think, is an easy fight to “prove” their military prowess. It could backfire.
Isn’t it amazing how there is -DEAFENING- silence in the media about “Free Tibet” in all of this?
Of course, “Occupied Palestine” (i.e nouveau-trendy Anti-Semitism), is the new cause-célèbre, and ‘Free Tibet’ has apparently gone the same place Richard Gere’s gerbil did.
Provoking India seems stupid. India has 1.3 Billion people. They have a median age of 27.5 vs. 36 for China. Getting India to be more hawkish advances Chinese interests how?
And welcome him at the front door.
The land-grab in Siberia is already underway, I believe, but I'm less certain about Russia's next move. I suppose whether they "seek allies in the west" depends on how one defines "the west."
The Chinese care inordinately about dirt.
They care about resources and about how to keep the masses appeased. Their economy is beginning to falter and the social compact that keeps the communist party in power is beginning to fray.
The Chinese Government cares about dirt. The Chinese people care about money. Invading some pile of semi-worthless mountains is not going to help business and it couldn’t even hurt business.
most dangerous nations on earth (Pakistan and China).
Yes, not only that, China has never been a democracy and Pakistan has had several military coup’s and polls 80% favorable for Obama Bin Laden.
When the British gave up rule of India in 1947, Gandhi wanted one undivided nation. However under leadership of Jinnah, the Muslims wanted a country of their own based on Islam as the favored & dominant religion. The country ended up partitioning based on which areas had the most Muslim population. That is why there were 2 separate areas consisting the original Pakistan, East & West Pakistan. That created mass exodus of refugees in the millions. Thousands were killed during the escape. Eventually East Pakistani’s got tired of being dominated by the West Pakistani’s and became independent nation of Bangladesh.

A communication could go out from the Trump admin....”We have concerns that China will not be able to maintain a check on North Korea as China seeks to be increasingly confrontational with India; as such we may need to act more aggressively to counter the North Korean threat as China is more focused militarily elsewhere and unable to keep her client state in tow!”
That should cool China’s aspirations for awhile...China dares not engage with India and the US at the same time!
