Bernstein's own and very personal Watergate:
... But what the media had brought together, the media last week were rapidly putting asunder. Just before Christmas Nora, 38, stormed out of their Washington condominium and resettled in a New York apartment with their two babies, Jacob, 17 months, and Max, 7 weeks. (A preemie, Max was released from New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital just two weeks ago.)

“Carl’s a rat,” Nora confided to a friend and called New York Daily News syndicated columnist Liz Smith to confirm the split. “Writing this scoop makes me feel sick,” lamented Liz, who adds that two weeks earlier she had called Nora about the stability of her marriage and rumors of Carl’s resumed swinging....

Then this timeless Nora quote: He'd have sex with a Venetian blind...

1998?

Would that be the year that Rush started on the radio?

“Mr. Trump says: ‘I haven’t had great coverage out there lately, Theresa.’ She replies awkwardly: ‘Well, you know what the British press are like.’ He replies: ‘I still want to come, but I’m in no rush. ‘So, if you can fix it for me, it would make things a lot easier. ‘When I know I’m going to get a better reception, I’ll come and not before.’ <<

TRANSLATION:.....When you need us (the US) more then we need you (the UK)....Call me!...

until then...You're in charge of YOUR Country...I'm in charge of MINE.....I'm not here to get “re-elected”...I'm here to save my country......are YOU?......

give me a call when you've made a stand and its convenient for ya....Maybe we can make a "deal".....

Bernstein looks like an extra for the original “Planet of the Apes”. Cornelius, is that you?

Few things are more hyped than Watergate. It was a third rate burglary. Bernstein has been banging the same drum for 40 years. He happened to get lucky and be contacted by a leaker. He did nothing. CNN and Bernstein are made for each other.

“RUSH: Translation: We’ve lost our monopoly!”

This is one reason why Rush has been so successful. He has a great ability to distill it all down into a simple truth, encompassed in a simple phrase. This is exactly correct. They've lost their monopoly, and they sensed this during the election cycle when everything they tried to derail Trump didn't work. Worse, for them, he took the fight directly to them and ridiculed them. These are a bunch of marginally talented, but amazingly egotistical people who in all reality could be replaced in a heartbeat by most undergraduate journalism or English students after their freshman year. Truthfully, that's actually the level of difficulty what they do requires - but they have deluded themselves and a significant amount of the public that they are somehow the equivalent of the most advanced particle physicists.

Having said that, being a true, honest, dig-deep investigative reporter who uncovers the truth, and reports it without embellishment or agenda, is a difficult and very important job. I have great respect for people who do these things, and feel that they deserve our gratitude and accolades. Unfortunately, I doubt that many of us can name even one such reporter.

Bernstein is a fraud. Always has been. Along with Woodward, their careers were built almost entirely on a myth known as “Deep Throat.” There was never any Deep Throat, it was just a literary device W&B used to lend authenticity to any rumors they needed to use to bash RMN but couldn’t substantiate. More stalking horse than anonymous informant. And they devised a quite convenient plan only to “reveal” who Deep Throat was after the alleged DT had died. Which supposedly was at DT’s request, but which (coincidentally?) also served to deny the alleged DT any opportunity to deny the allegation.

So today he’s a liberal darling because he lied about conservatives and didn’t get caught. Because the façade of Deep Throat held up.

Quite a CV for a “news” man.

Here’s an example of it. There’s a new special issue magazine out on the stands, Heroes of War II. They include a piece about JFK and his PT boat. There’s no mention at all of George Bush Sr. getting shot down as a fighter pilot in WW II. The media is excluding Republicans from the narrative, as in another glossy coffee table magazine about famous celebrity weddings (a recent special issue magazine included the Kennedy’s and Obama’s weddings but excluded Trump and Melania’s wedding, and the issue came out this spring, well in time for them to include the Trumps). There’s one on Anne Frank and the issue includes tributes from Clinton and others but no Republican president. As if only Democrats can comment on Anne Frank.
