FORT WORTH Lockheed Martin will be interviewing at least 2,000 people for jobs next week with some people being offered employment on the spot as part of the buildup of F-35 production at its Fort Worth plant.
Lockheed already has cleared about 1,900 applicants who pre-registered through social media for interviews, but anyone who thinks they may be qualified for one of the jobs, especially in manufacturing, can come to the Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown Hotel on Tuesday. The event opens at 7 a.m.
Were really ramping up the activity to do this hiring. This is new to us, making offers on the spot, said Ken Ross, a spokesman for Lockheed. He said the company posted the job fair on Facebook and other websites within the last two weeks and had to shut it down after 24 hours when 2,600 people registered.
At a similar event in June, the company made 601 offers in one day 501 in manufacturing jobs like aircraft and avionics mechanics, painters and material handlers and 100 in areas such as engineering, supply chain and finance, Ross said. I emailed my nephew who lives in that area
I’m enjoying retirement too much but thanks for the tip.
Foat Wuth ? Sum Bich !
Who would want to live and work in A Republican run city and county, that has a vibrant downtown night life and a cowboy culture district plus a NASCAR track?
I applied for the technical writer position they are offering here in Kentucky. It has been open for a couple months; they seem to be having a hard time filling it. Hopefully they will consider me soon.
Will send the link to my son an aerospace nut whose masters is in mechanical engineering. He’s working in a non aerospace industry now.
They can conduct thorough backround checks on the spot? Who knew!
Hire in haste, repent at leisure.
I do love Ft. Worth.
The offers may be “contingent on passing the background check”.
We’ve been testing FW out for the last 43 years. Can’t make up our minds if we want to stay or not.
Seems to me that in order to be considered for a job in the tech writing field in America, you have to be from China or Korea.
Background checks are always post hiring. They need to put you on the payroll first so they can start you gathering the information. The job will not be in a classified area until after your clearance comes through, usually around 6 months later.
This is common and sometimes resulted in people being “ice boxed” put to work on really non-essential things while waiting for the clearance. They could put these people on inventory jobs for example when they should be making parts.
Or the Philippines, in the case of Lexmark, one of the larger companies here.
