there is a much bigger problem with container ships. Militaries have now deployed a strategy of weaponizing containers. There is the speculation that on the ACX Crystal was an EMP system hidden in a container that attacked the USS Fitzgerald.
If you do your homework, you will find the powerpoint presenations discussing different kinds of weaponized containers as missile launchers and other things. This way, commercial freighters can disguise on board weapon systems. Talk about asymmetrical warfare. The cost of putting such systems on a commercial freighter is dramatically less than building a new destroyer, and an effective form of deceit.
A hundred of these systems could probably be deployed on a hundred commercial freighters for the same cost as a new destroyer with far less total fire power. It’s a strategic coup.
