Earth could turn into a hothouse planet like Venus, with boiling oceans and acid rain, if humans don't curb irreversible climate change, physicist Stephen Hawking claimed in a recent interview.
"We are close to the tipping point, where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump's action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees [Celsius], and raining sulfuric acid," he told BBC News, referring to the president's decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate deal.

The atmosphere of Venus is composed of 96.5% carbon dioxide, 3.5% nitrogen, and traces of other gases...
Meanwhile...
The three major constituents of air, and therefore of Earths atmosphere, are nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. Water vapor accounts for roughly 0.25% of the atmosphere by mass. The concentration of water vapor (a greenhouse gas) varies significantly from around 10 ppm by volume in the coldest portions of the atmosphere to as much as 5% by volume in hot, humid air masses, and concentrations of other atmospheric gases are typically quoted in terms of dry air (without water vapor).[4]
The remaining gases are often referred to as trace gases,[5] among which are the greenhouse gases, principally *carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

It wouldn’t matter if the atmosphere of Venus had no CO2. The atmospheric pressure on Venus is 90 times that of earth. That’s why it’s so hot there.
Venus is also closer to the Sun.
Considering the speed at which planet Earth travels, am continually amazed our atmosphere isn’t stepped away. Hawkins must be needing grant money ....
Steve the spazz has to sell it harder because nobody’s buying it...
Must see YouTube video! (no joke, he was dead serious!)
March 2010:
Democrat Representative Hank Johnson fears Guam may tip over and sink due to overpopulation! Check out the reaction of the military official he was questioning.
Based upon his absurd statement about Earth vs. Venus, he may have just ironically demonstrated himself to be one of the dumbest people on the planet.
Earth will turn into a hothouse but it will be called Hell.
Re: “We are close to the tipping point...”
Sorry, that Hank Johnson/Guam ‘tip over’ video has since been removed from YouTube.
Here is a more recent upload...

Mr. Hawking, I think that you need to find the closest psychiatric hospital, and check yourself in.
So that freak they made into an all knowing puppet and parrot of the narrative has no clue?
You don't think an atmosphere of 95-96% CO2 would lead to a *legitimate* runaway greenhouse effect? Contrast that with a less-than measly 0.038% CO2 on earth! Also, a day on Venus is longer than its year! This is because it takes 246 (earth) days to rotate on its axis and 227 days to orbit the sun. In other words, one side of Venus does not receive direct sunlight for months.
Hawking has gone insane. Senile.
Savant syndrome is a condition in which a person with a developmental disability demonstrates profound and prodigious capacities or abilities far in excess of what would be considered normal. People with savant syndrome may have neurodevelopmental disorders, notably autism spectrum disorders, or brain injuries. The most dramatic examples of savant syndrome occur in individuals who score very low on IQ tests, while demonstrating exceptional skills or brilliance in specific areas, such as rapid calculation, art, memory, or musical ability. Although termed a syndrome, it is not recognized as a mental disorder nor as part of a mental disorder in medical manuals such as the ICD-10 or the DSM-5. en.wikipedia.org · Text under CC-BY-SA license
Yes, and he could do a quarter mile in 45 seconds on foot, but I ain’t holding my breath.
The surface temp on Venus is said to be the same as the melting point of lead. Roughly 900 degs.
"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.
"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."
Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."
He should stick to playing with black holes.
