House appropriators are including President Donald Trumps full request to fund a physical border wall in their proposed 2018 budget potentially setting up a shutdown fight this fall.
The House appropriations committee released its homeland security bill on Tuesday and it includes the full $1.6 billion requested by the Office of Management and Budget to begin construction on a southern border wall.
The bill also funds 500 new Border Patrol agents and more technology for securing the border, as well as money for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to hire 1,600 additional staff and increase detention capacity.
While House Republicans have enough votes to pass such a bill even with some defections, the move would likely face trouble in the Senate, where Republicans need eight Democrats to join them to advance any funding bill.

Bring it on!
Shut it down.
Keep it shut down as long as it takes.
AND no pay for missed days. This is NOT a paid vacation.
Make the employees give a damn.
They are their future voters and patrons.
Trump needs to declare national parks, etc. (i.e., things that folk would miss) as “essential” as they are needed for the mental health of US citizens. Non-essential would be things such as the EPA, most of HUD, Refugee Assistant type offices and other federal bureaucracies dedicated to weakening America.
Trump also needs to say, in advance, that he doesn’t believe in paying folks for doing nothing — so he will veto any legislation providing back pay for the folks who don’t work. He’ll only pay back pay to the essential folks who coMe to work.. Fed employees who are put on furlough should be instructed to apply for unemployment benefits just as “regular” folks are required to do when laid off.
Dare the ‘RATS to close the government!

House GOP allocates $1.6 billion for Trump border wall in 2018

RINOs will have to vote nay with their buddies in the opposition party to prevent money for the wall.
Even under Bush, McCain and other RINOs voted money for the wall; they just knew the courts could be counted on to shut it down for "environmental reasons" so it would never get built but they did build 7-8 miles, I think!
And the Republicans will fold.
Deportations, the Wall, and Supreme Court nominations. If President Trump continues keeping his promises like this, he’s going to set an example that embarrasses the career politicians.
What “cave-in”? It’s always Kabuki theater instead. They had no problems passing Zerocare repeal bills when Obama was still in the White House, and now they’re openly resisting its repeal.
“The Naked Communist” warned us that one of the stated goals of the communists was to capture at least one, but if possible both major US political parties. When Arthur Larson wrote a book called “A Republican Looks At His Party”, which was essentially the same book as leftist Democrat Dean Acheson’s “A Democrat Looks At His Party”, Goldwater warned in “The Conscience of a Conservative” that the GOP was becoming just as left-wing totalitarian as the Dems, even back in the 1950s.
If necessary in the Senate, just change the rules so only a majority is needed to stop the filibuster and pass it. Mc Connell needs to stop playing with his weewee and let Slimeball Schummer know that the game is going to be played differently.
