The most intelligent thing to come out of Mitt Romney's mouth was his statment about self-deportation, unfortunately, he didn't mean a word of it, any more than he meant any of the other conservative-sounding rhetoric that he forced himself to say on the campaign trail.
That doesn't change the fact that it's the right message. Defeatists and advocates of amnesty always tell us that we'll never round up or deport them all. As far as arguments go, this is one of the more inane ones, since by the same line of reasoning we shouldn't arrest any criminals at all - after all, some some will always slip through the cracks. But if a rebuttal is needed, here we have it: Make America's public and private institutions less friendly towards illegals and they will self-deport with very little effort on the part of law enforcement.
I agree with your thoughts there.
You touch on several key drivers.
A few tweaks for effect and a new tough sounding policy, and the magic happens.
No, we were never going to go door to door to send people back on a massive scale. We didn’t need to.
Totally agree with your statements about Mittens, and cannot understand at all why Ann Coulter couldn’t see through that.
