FOX NEWS ALERT: U.S. flexes its defense muscles, destroys incoming test missile off coast of Alaska
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
We destroyed a missile we shot at ourselves?
yes, it was a test missile to show the NK dope that the THAD system will work to thwart any nuclear missile they try to target us with.
Yes.
I suspect the successful flight of the last Nork “ICBM” was allowed to happen by our side as a useful ploy in the negotiation that is occurring between our president and Xi of China and Putin.
Absolutely!
This was a follow on, no doubt, to permitting the Nork ICBM to fly unhindered.
I suspect the series of missile shot failures of the norks had something to do with American techniques. Our ongoing “discussions” with China needed a demonstration that our antipathy to Norkea has a real and immediate basis and we needed to offhandedly show that we can defend against those things, too. I believe this all to be facets of our ongoing contest with China over Norkea.

China and North Korea are one and the same. They have some sort of mutual defense treaty. Nork is acting at China’s behest.
This is fantastic, and certainly a welcome change from the 0bama policy that attempted to rid ourselves of any missile defense, but I have a few questions:
1. Did the defensive missile crew know WHEN the target missile would be launched?
2. Did the defensive missile crew know in advance the FLIGHT PROFILE and TRAJECTORY of the incoming missile in advance?
3. Was this really just a propaganda test to re-assure the American public and act as a deterrent to the NORKs?
All of these figure into evaluating the real success of this test.
I’ll feel better when we can take out a missile 1 mile or less above NK, on it’s accent.
Alaska Ping
If (when) we knock one of Kim’s missiles out of the air it will be much bigger news, possibly triggering the resumption of the Korean War after a 64 year long cease fire.
Correctamundo !
We let that puppy fly just to see what they could pull off and could have splashed it anytime in flight at OUR convinence.
The Jr. chiapet has no “clrew” what We are capable of.
Wow, so much that is that is not known.
What they are doing is a missile hitting (actually touching) another missile. This is not a bullet hitting a bullet which is simpler, a bullet travels about 2500 Feet Per Second (fps), the ICBM travels almost ten times that at 22,000 fps.
The difference between a rocket and missile is that a missile is guided (that means corrects its course in flight), a rocket is ballistic subject to aerodynamics.
Now if you can achieve a missile to missile engagement that keeps effects outside the blast area, you are successful.
This is a non trivial problem, this successful test will lead to more success.
Less known to most folks is there was a Second
