The New York Times published a story on Saturday that revealed Donald Trump Jr. met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer who has connections to the Kremlin, on June 9th, 2016. On Sunday, The Times followed up with a report that said Don Jr. was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with [the] Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, . . . Paul Manafort, President Trumps campaign manager at the time, and Jared Kushner, President Trumps son-in-law and current advisor, also attended the meeting, according to The Times.
But the critical detail of who sought to broker the meeting is wholly omitted in both of The Times reports. In a statement to The Times, Don Jr. said, I was asked to attend the meeting by an acquaintance, but was not told the name of the person I would be meeting with beforehand.
Whoever the acquaintance was, subsequent reporting by Circa News said that members of the Presidents legal team have confirmed that the acquaintance who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS.
Trumps presumptive nomination is significant here for other, less obvious reasons. That is because, according to The New York Times, during the Republican primaries, a wealthy Republican donor who strongly opposed Mr. Trump put up the money to hire a Washington research firm run by former journalists, Fusion GPS, to compile a dossier about the real estate magnates past scandals and weaknesses.
However, The Times continued,
After Mr. Trump emerged as the presumptive nominee in the spring, the Republican interest in financing the effort ended. But Democratic supporters of Hillary Clinton were very interested, and Fusion GPS kept doing the same deep dives, but on behalf of new clients.

Iran’s program is thoroughly intertwined with North Korea’s. They exchange scientists and technology and have for a very long time.
Even if it is not a nothingburger, that doesn’t make it a smethingburger. It could be but isn’t necessarily.
Anyone who tries or tried to deal with the Soviets/Russians should have known that most of those allowed to contact westerners, esp. Americans, were either KGB/FSB/etc. or coopted by them. That is just standard Communist/Soviet/Russian SOP. There are a number of Congressional studies on this going back decades including the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, Sen. Judiciary Committee hearings “Activities of Soviet Secret Service (testimony of Nikolai Evgeniyevich Khokhlov, former MGB Agent”, May 21, 1954, “Strategy and Tactics of World Communism” (hearings, Parts 1-16), 19554-55 and “Scope of Soviet Activity in the United States”, Parts 1-90, 1955-57; and the report, “Beware! Tourists reporting on Russia”, Feb 5, 1960.
One of my editors was being “set up” by a “prostitute” in a Moscow hotel but he had been briefed on Soviet entrapment methods and refused any contact with her. He also assumed, automatically that his room was bugged.
Another journalist, with a wicked sense of humor, was talking to a high-ranking Soviet official at a dinner, and innocently (yep) asked this man who was seated next to him, whether he was planning to defect because he had said such nice thinks about America.
The Soviet official turned bright red and became extremely embarrassed at the question essentially telling the American journalist not to say such things. The man was afraid of their table being wiretapped.
Unfortunately the Trump family guys were taking Obama’s suggestions of creating better ties with the Russians, at his word. They should have known better or been better briefed on all fronts.
Now we have three Brits all involved in the Trump Jr/Kushner affairs (Steele, Goldstone and the newest one), with none of them having provided any “real” information to the Trump team on anything, while providing the anti-Trump organizations (including the Comey’s FBI), with disinformation, crapburgers, and fake claims.
Gee, this reminds me of the good old days of Clinton/Gore when communist money (mainly Red Chinese) flooded into the US through Buddhist nuns (who are supposedly living a life of austerity, Chinese businessmen from Indonesia, Taiwan and possibly Hong Kong, and American Chinese citizens. Nobody suspected anything was wrong with Buddhist nuns having hundreds of thousands of dollars. They must have had a very successful eggroll company on the side.
Gore should have been kicked out as VP since he had security lessons from the Secret Service, FBI, etc. but he ignored them all the time. Greed makes Democrats do this.
Just look at the DNC supposed computer hacking (why didn’t they turn it over to the FBI/CIA/NSA for study?), the Clinton Cash Criminal Foundation and Lobbying Conduit, the Uranium Mine deal, and the tremendous amount of money the Clintons were given for boring speeches somebody wrote for them kissing up to the Russians’ asses and plans for saving the planet from climate change.
It looks like Americans need a refresher course or hundred on Soviet/Russian and Red Chinese espionage, propaganda and entrapment/disinformation programs.
And this goes for all American politicians and lobbyists.
Sorry, forgot the sarcasm tag.
I was trying to say that if is truly a nothingburger, the Democrats will only be yapping about it for 2 months, rather than the 2 hours it might take otherwise.
