I think most of those users have no money and no assets

I assume that they will not treat people who have alcohol poisoning either.

Dying will teach those collage students not to drink!

....eems to me that the deputies should have some on hand in case they are accidentally exposed to fentanyl....

Just touching a minute amount of fentanyl can put you in a comma or worse.

If you are foolish enough to put drugs into your system, you deserve to suffer the consequences. We’ve lost too many freedoms to try to protect morons from themselves.

Absolutely not.

Nor does society/taxpayer have a responsibility to continually bail out folks from their repeated bad financial or behavioral decisions.

A large percentage of them have little or nothing to contribute to said costs.

It also does funny things to your colon!

I have read, in some counties, they've had to institute a limit because they are going to the same people repeatedly.

This is genocide. Take the jobs, bring is hostile invaders, pollute the culture, destroy the families, promote degeneracy 24/7 on every mass media platform and bring in a highly addictive substance en mass--make it readily available and cheap.

Don't think for one second, this wasn't orchestrated.

“...but we can’t just let people die unnecessarily...’ Maybe you’d like to define when it is necessary to let people die? Your statement is the justification for any number of intrusive federal and state laws e.g. seatbelt. Actually we let people die all the time the only question is what is the proper role of government in deciding whether or not to let people die. Letting drug abusers die may actually save lives by discouraging drug abuse.

Why should sheriff’s be equipped with Narcan and not defibrillators, epipens, what about insulin?

The overdose drug addict’s death is not unnecessary and it is not yours or anybody else role to force the rest of us to bail them out.

Maybe because an illegal act was the cause of the medical emergency? Burns from a meth lab, murder attempt gone awry, etc.

The best solution, the only workable solution is for hinckley buzzard to go provide them with Narcan on his dime.

Then everything is perfectly fair and everyone is satisfied.

We live in a small town with a junkie element and so the police carry it and has been used. It’s a dilemma. They usually will never stop using until they are finally dead.

If this guy is lucky, they will all become brain dead. Then the county’s cost will make the $50 dose of Narcan look cheap.

Perhaps his detectives could find out who is selling this stuff and take them out.

We do not help because of who they are.

We help because of who we are.

If we can save the life, we should. It’s who we are.

So what if they are massive sinners? Jesus came to die for each of them.

EMTs have to deal with repeated trips to idiots homes. Heart attacks and strokes every day because people stuff fries and burgers down their gullet three times a day.

If you base their days on dealing with true accidents they would go days without a call.

At the very least, you're in for a rough period.

Police aren’t EMT and should not be responsible for administering drugs in the field. Call the medics to make the diagnosis and treatment.
