And, apparently, mother never taught her how to stand like a lady or to wear clothes that don’t show a bunch of wrinkles.
She really gussied up for the occasion, didn’t she? Any old rag in the closet will do - let’s go!
Hillary never wore pantsuits? OK, you got me there.
And thank you for the ladies fashion primer - my week is complete.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit.
Fat ugly Ms Hitler sticking out like a sore thumb. When you look like that, you do not call attention to it.

Gives new meaning to “frumpy East German fraulein”!
Merkel looks like something out of that “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” movie, that just rolled out of bed!
Did she get advice from Al Gore’s haberdashery consultant on how to look more “masculine?” How embarrassing!
Trump is tall
Angela the Red comes to mind.

If by “Angela the Red” you mean “Angela the smooshed-up Flour Dumpling”, then you are correct!
Kasich isn’t laughing, he’s still thinking he should have been standing there instead of Trump, or some other fantasy. Did you know his father was a postman?
For 30 years from 1976 to 2004, the networks alternated every four years between blue and red for the incumbant party. There is no official written evidence that this was purposeful, but the colors used by the networks did alternate - perhaps out of respect for the fact that niether party liked the commie association with red. Before 1976, the networks did not follow any color system with electoral maps - some didn’t use colored maps, and when they did, the colors varied from network to network and were not limited to red or blue.
So, the following incumbents were assigned colors as follows: Ford was blue in 1976, Carter was red in 1980, Reagan was blue in 1984, Bush Sr. was red in 1988, Bush Sr. was blue in 1992, Clinton was red in 1996, Gore was blue in 2000.
In 2004 Bush Jr. should have been red, and was, but probably for the wrong reason (see below). In 2008, McCain should have been blue, but was red. In 2012, Obama should have been red, but was blue. In 2016, Hillary Clinton should have been blue, and was.
I believe that in the 2000 election squeaker, “red state” / “blue state” became such a meme, that the color associations got “set in concrete”; R was red and D was blue, and the alternating scheme was forgotten. Really, McCain and Romney are the only candidates so far that have been screwed out of their right to be blue (both times by Obama, who should have been red as challenger in 2008 and then as incumbent in 2012. Trump would have been red in 2016 anyway. As incumbent in 2020, Trump would be red again under the old system.
I doubt it will ever switch back to an alternating system now that the “red state”, “blue state” meme is so firmly established in the political lexicon. If they were to resume the old system, and assuming Trump is reelected in 2020, it would be Pence’s turn in 2024 (or whoever the Republicans run as incumbant), to be blue.
It was expained that Merkle would stand at the center and that the heads of state with the longest tenures would stand near her. Those with shorter tenures would then move toward the sides and those with the least tenure would be on the end.
Did you notice that Macron stepped down and moved to the end beside Trump?
Hillary wore mis-matched tunics and pants—not suits. Female politicians should dress in Business Dress style. For an example of this, see Sarah Palin as VP candidate. Pants are somewhat acceptable substitute for the skirt, if made from the same material as the jacket. Women who want to play with the big boys should dress the part.
The tradition is that the newest elected officials stand closest to the outside on G20 photos. That’s all that happened in that photo.
Merkel is hosting this summit. Thus, she is in the center.
I read the line-up is by seniority with the longest serving in the center.
It used to be that the incumbents were in blue, and the newly elected/changed seats were in red. That changed with the election of Ronald Reagan, when the press seemingly coincidentally started with republicans red and democRats blue.
It’s been like that ever since.
Trump looks to be the tallest man in the room. He WASN’T going to stand in the back row, where the tall guys are usually directed by the photographer. IF he had been standing in front of anyone else in the middle section, that person would have disappeared behind him. Where he is, he can be easily seen and identified -— plus he obscures no one. Just my take as a front row shorty for my various group pictures.
At least he’s not standing on his tippy toes.
Why not the 20 leaders only? Are any of these countries run by trios or committees? Even if so, they should get one representative for the picture.
Understood. Although in 1980 the Democrats were the incumbents and they had the red color assigned (by NBC). Didn’t bother to check CBS and ABC.
