Remember the important qualifier for officials to be subject to impeachment? High crimes and misdemeanors? According to Vanity Fair contributor, T.A. Frank, perhaps we should add "offensive" to the reasons for impeachment.
Frank is honest in admitting in his July 6 article that, so far, the Trump-Russia collusion theory has turned into a big nothingburger. He also suggests that there might not ever be any impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors as a basis to remove President Donald Trump from office. So what to do? What to do? Simple. Impeachment, resignation, 25th Amendment, natural death, assassination. Liberals don’t care how Trump ceases to be able to exercise the Presidential powers, they just want those powers out of his hands. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Congressional Democrats charge President Trump during the State of the Union in an attempt to make a certain play’s death scene a reality.
I think the biggest similarity is that today’s elite leftists and the French aristocrats both lived in isolation from the majority of the people in flyover/carriage-over country, and that both elites were leaches on the productive work of the majority, whom they held in contempt, yet felt entitled to.
One big difference is that the millions of people on welfare are now on the side of the leftist elite which has bought them off, while in the French revolution the rabble made common cause with the middle class.
How it shakes out, I don’t know.
That is definitely either a high crime or a misdemeanor!
