"Supervolcano" Concerns Rise After Montana Hit By Strongest Earthquake In 20 Years

MISSOULA, Mont. - A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck western Montana around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service in Great Falls said on Twitter that the shaking was felt as far away as 500 miles (805 kilometers).
The U.S. Geological Survey says the the 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit just after midnight about 6 miles (9.7 kilometers) southeast of Lincoln.

It will be interesting to speak with relatives who live not too far south of the Lincoln area.
230 miles northwest of Yellowstone.

I’m About 200 miles southeast of Lincoln. Slept right through it.

The California-transplants brought their earthquakes with them.

Talked with several folks up there this morning, and only one, who said he shook, but thought it was in his dreams. Didn’t realize there was a quake until he saw the news this morning.
Please don’t start trying to link Yellowstone to his earthquake. Tectonically as well as geographically they are separate beasties. The Lincoln quakes and after shocks are associated with a NE trending, right lateral normal fault. Not volcanogenic in any association. Don’t need Yellowstone tinfoil time.
When I posted that article I expected you to use your own mind.

I don't think Yellowstone is any closer to blowing than I did twenty years ago.
Then you need to provide adequate information upon which to base a sound decision and not uninformed drivel.
There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.
Suspect it applies here, too.
