In Warsaw today (7:15 a.m. ET), President Trump delivers what the White House sees as one of the most important speeches of his presidency. He won't identify himself with the nationalist populist ruling party in Poland, but has something grander in mind.
The president will present himself as the leader of the West during an address to thousands of Poles in a public square. Trump's team, led by senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, saw an opportunity to use the story of the Polish resistance as the setting for a new rallying cry to Western civilization.
From Trump's text: "The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive. ... Our own fight for the West does not begin on the battlefield it begins with our minds, our wills, and our souls."
Trump will speak in front of the memorial to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, when more than 150,000 Poles died in the effort to drive the Nazis out of Warsaw and re-establish their independence before Stalin's Soviet forces could capture the city.

7:15am ET on the speech. I’m taking a later train on Metro North so I can hear the whole speech on the train in. This could rank up there with Reagan’s “Tear down this wall” speech.
Go Trump!
He’s doing well over there. Good speech. Now build wall and most importantly- deport deport deport or else the country is doomed.
Recently it occurred to me the entire history of Europe has been a long train of “Final Solutions to migrant problems...”. There really is nothing new under the sun.
Only now the U.S. needed to rescue them (again) is $20 trillion in debt.
Wow isnt it nice to know he wont be bowing and apologizing for America and praising mooslims?
West is best
Progressives clutch their pearls and suffer a sudden spell of the vapours.
you know Axios is far left Politico just renamed ?
its a left wing fake news site .
Joined by the veterans and heroes of the Warsaw uprising.
Taking it to both the World Socialists (USSR) and the National socialists (Nazi Germany).
Good comment. I often make the point that the Roman Empire did not fall (primarily) because the Roman army lost a lot of important battles. The real problem was mass migrations of people from the East who were allowed to settle in Roman territory and retain their foreign ways. Rome got progressively less Roman. The army got progressively less Roman. It was a slow decline that took centuries. They kept trying to find administrative fixes (c.f. Diocletian) but ultimately they lost their culture war and Europe entered the Dark Ages.
Many other cases through European history. Long train of “final solutions to migrant problems” indeed.
Some days I really like Trump, some days I love him....what a leader!
Funny thing is by the end, it wasn’t the Romans trying to hold things together, but the descendants of the German barbarians.
Yrs, though one played into another when the Roman army began to fill out with thousands of Germans & other non-citizens
Yes!
Go President Trump!
Refreshing to hear a President who’s unapologetically pro-American and pro-Western civ. It’s been almost 30 years.
Left-wingers’ empty heads are undoubtedly exploding. They’ve been brainwashed by academia and the media to believe that American patriotism and pride in the accomplishments of Western civ is “fascistic.”
