Bluffing is for those who accept they may or may not win. The outcome is based on an unpredictable response from the opponent.

In business or in life, go review the decades of available information and you will see that Donald Trump, now President Trump, doesn’t bluff. It’s one of the reasons he so openly owns the downsides. It’s also the reason he has never engaged in the stock market.

Excellent article. Makes perfect sense about how Trump has an economic strategy now, more so than a military strategy (although I’m sure there is one). Seems like gradual increasing pressure on China via economic and financial means is a preferred strategy to the inevitable bloody outcomes that loons like Ralph Peters predict.

Also better than than the acceptance of NoKo having nukes and hope for the deterrence of MAD that over-rated intellectuals like Charles Krauthammer express.

This huge economic leverage at U.S. disposal had been forbidden to be exercised for a long time. Don't you see all people who flinch at the mere possibility that U.S. would use it? Or the mere frowning by China? It is the time for the unfettered use of long-forbidden leverage. We reached the point where we should abandon the fantasy that the best way is even tighter economic bond.

To produce the speedy outcome, other pressures have to applied. Still we have a very limited window of opportunity, probably a year or less.

If we were to pursue the road of economic pressure, it should have already started, and by now at full strength. So I don't know if we can safely disregard a military option.

Yes, we should never disregard a military option, though I hope (and pray) it will not have to be employed.

And, yes, it has taken too long to exercise the leverage at our disposal, but, to be sure, better late than never.

A must read for those that don’t understand ‘how’ Trump accomplishes goals.

Different topic, but I believe he is handling the media the same way. And it also explains the twitter war.

Economic pressure works in any situation. Expose the media leads to loss of viewers leads to loss of sponsors leads to ownership taking a different approach. Timely, but effective.
