Aydin Ahi, deputy chairman of the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Ozalp district of Van province, was killed in armed attack on Saturday night.
Two officials, members of Turkeys ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), were shot dead on Saturday night.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus claimed Sunday that militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) were behind the assasinations but no statement has been made by the organisation.
The victims were identified as Aydin Ahi, the deputy chairman in the Ozalp district [of Turkeys Van province] and Orhan Mercan, the deputy chairman in the Lice district [of the Diyarbakir province], Kurtulmus said on Twitter.
35 people were arrested in Van and Diyarbakir after the killings including Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) Lice district co-leader Salime Zingil, Kurdish Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Lice district co-leader Rozerin Yigitel, and DIHA journalist Behcet Bayhan.
Turkey has been firing on peaceful villages in Syria with Howitzers. Killing civilians with no consequences. And doing anything Turkey can to deny the SDF destruction of ISIS.
Turkey is still looking for an excuse to Kill Kurds, steal land and oil, subject neighboring people in neighboring nations and threatening 500,000 displaced persons.
I’m wondering what help NATO plans to give the Turks.
NATO is a defensive organization.
We have no obligation to defend a NATO member who attacks another nation.
The only danger to Turkey is internal. Erdogan is a threat to his nation and others in the region.
I bet he has the opposition party AND the journalist attention now.
HA HA
They will be blaming this on Trump by morning.
“The Kurds did it,” no matter who carried out. Anydisturbance is an excuse to round up Kurds. When ISIS is cleaned out shortly the fighting will ramp up as Turkiye seriously goes after ALL the Kurds. There is a bit of revenge in it now as the Kurds are being blamed for ending the Caliphate.
Alas, Turkiye probably has the most powerful army in the area and our formal alliance with the country puts us on a bad spot if we try to keep the Turks from suppressing the Kurds in Iraq and Syria. Erdogan hoped the Caliphate would be successfully established then it could be assumed into Greater Turkiye maybe AKA a New Ottoman Empire. The Kurds stand in the way of that ambition.
“Erdogan hoped”?
Obama promised it to him.
2 things happened that spoiled Obozo’s evil plan.
1. Iran stepped in heavily with trained soldiers.
2. Syrian Kurds with a little air cover became an incredible military forces.
And in the mean time, Erdogan insulted everyone to the point they have basically told him to “screw that”.
He also purged his military and put all political opposition in jail on stupid charges or in the case of the military officers, killed some of them.
Erdogan like the Kemalist before him will practice Massacre of any who oppose them. They have been doing that to Kurds, Assyrians, Armenians, Alevi’s, Ezidi’s for centuries.
Given his way, Erdogan’s Turkey will practice genocide again. So there is no option. He must be prevented from doing that. Whatever it takes.
Putin may be planning a stumble for Erdogan. He has a good memory.
Yes, Erdogan hates the Kurds. He must go.
Last I heard Erdogan had 40,000 people in jail. Some not sentenced yet because they don’t have jails to hold them. And torture is SOP in Turkish Prisons.
Not good situation.
They have arrested over 200,000 people for various abuses, If they haven’t done anything, they just make stuff up as they go along. Many lost their jobs and are now in tough position.
Needless to say, I have ZERO interest in going to Turkey. Some of my friends are already on his arrest list.
