"Charles Manson, the notorious cult leader, has broken a 20-year silence in an interview from his prison cell to warn the world of an impending apocalypse due to global warming.

[snip]

"Everyone's God and if we don't wake up to that there's going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we're doing bad things to the atmosphere," he said.

"The automobiles and fossil fuels are destroying the atmosphere and we won't have air to breathe".

Bernie Sanders: Climate Change is Directly Related To Terrorism

by Michelle Fields
Nov 14, 2015

"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.

"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."

Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."

There’s one kind of intelligence that comes from an accumulation of knowledge within one or more specialized areas, and another that relates to being able to objectively and accurately analyze information not closely related to any of your specialized, accumulated knowledge.

Many revered as geniuses based on the former are often found lacking based on the latter, and it seems that is the case here. Just think of how many “smart”, elderly people you know that couldn’t adapt to any new technologies as they came out.

It took my Dad a long time to figure out how to operate a VCR, and after watching his first movie on a rented disc, as he was getting ready to return it he asked me “Do I need to rewind this first”?

A poem by Slyfox - "The Two Smartest People in the World"

Hillary and Hawking sitting in a tree.

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

First comes Trump

Then he beats Hillary

Then comes proof that the Hawking is a complete idiot

The End.

I think this is a pretty common tactic for “public intellectuals.” Carl Sagan and Noam Chomsky both went down this road

Here are some other “public intellectuals”: Obama, revolutionary-communist/terrorists Bill Ayers and wife Bernardine Dorn.

______________

The Center for Public Intellectuals & The University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC)

April 19th-20th, 2002, Conference
[Participants include: William/Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Sen Barack Obama]

April 19th-20th, 2002
Chicago Illini Union
828 S. Wolcott

This conference is part of the Center's mission of helping to create a more engaged civil society, working towards social change, fostering coalitions between theorists and activists, and combating anti-intellectualism in contemporary culture. It will be both a celebration of ideas and a rigorous examination of the roles and responsibilities that intellectuals play in society.

I. Why Do Ideas Matter? (a keynote panel)

We introduce the “meta” theme of the conference by hearing “success stories” from diverse voices discussing their experiences intervening intellectually.

Timuel Black, Chicago activist; Prof. Emeritus, City Colleges of Chicago
Lonnie Bunch, President, Chicago Historical Society
Bernardine Dohrn, Northwestern University Law School, Children and Family Justice Center
Gerald Graff, UIC, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
Richard Rorty, Stanford University, Philosophy

III. Lunch and Public Encounters

Alternative breakout tours led by Chicago activists. Tours of Bronzeville and other communities, and visits to organizations that are working on partnering theorists with activists.

IV. Intellectuals in Times of Crisis
Experiences and applications of intellectual work in urgent situations.

William Ayers, UIC, College of Education; author of Fugitive Days
Douglass Cassel, Northwestern University, Center for International Human Rights
Cathy Cohen, University of Chicago, Political Science
Salim Muwakkil, Chicago Tribune; In These Times
Barack Obama, Illinois State Senator
Barbara Ransby, UIC, African-American Studies (moderator)

Hawking should explain what has caused ALL of the climate models to be wrong about warming over the last twenty years. I’d be impressed if he could do that.

He is a sub-atomic particle/astrophysicist.

He's used to having his models be wrong.

There are two philosophies in dealing with tyrants: stop a tyrant before he has the ability or wait until he has the ability and deal with him then.

If history is a teacher, “waiting” results in a great deal of suffering and death.

Also, stop means stop, not kick the can down the road like Kerry/Obama did with Iran.

RE: The photo of “stack emissions”

With the sun BEHIND the emissions causes doubt as to whether it is pollution or simply water vapor (steam).
The outer edges, not obscuring the sun indicate (1) the emissions ARE steam and that (2) the photo was SPECIFICALLY composed to show a much “darker” emission output in an attempt to convince the “layman” it is pollution.

What he should do is invent devices that use no energy, devices that give off no CO2, invent devices that used energy in the atmosphere etc. Do something rather than write science fiction to affect the climate. Otherwises shut up

With Hawking I had been chalking up the foolish things he says off subject to just a smart man addicted to attention. But this latest example makes me fear there has to have beeen some mental deterioration as well. Its not even plausible on an “ancient aliens” or “coast to coast am” scale.

As my Mother told me years ago, “some people are so smart, they’re stupid”.

I didn’t really get what she meant then, but I sure do get it now.
