The Next Middle East War? Hezbollah May Risk Everything in All-Out Fight With Israel.
Newsweek ^ | 7/3/17 | Sulome Anderson

Posted on 07/03/2017 8:23:46 AM PDT by Malcolm Reynolds

A tall, husky man with a large machine gun stands next to a missile in a field just south of Damascus, Syria. It’s a warm morning in May, and pale yellow butterflies flutter around him. Rabieh is a Hezbollah fighter stationed in the area, and like other Hezbollah members who spoke to Newsweek, he asked to be identified by a pseudonym because he isn’t authorized to speak to the press. "God willing, we will soon liberate Syria and go back to our country,” Rabieh says. "But until that happens, we will stay here until our last breath.”

"Since we went into Syria, we became much stronger,” the older officer says. “What was Hezbollah before? We were defenders. Now, we’ve learned how to attack offensively.”

No air force or armor, just rockets, light vehicles, small arms, and human wave attacks. It would be a slaughter. Hezbollah doesn't do anything without the backing and permission of Iran. It would likely expand into a wider conflict, especially if even one missile came from Iran.

Yes, but they could rain thousands of missiles on Israeli cities. And if Hezbollah does start something, Israeli needs to terminate it with extreme prejudice.

don’t worry the Israelis will and Iran can kiss their stinky asses goodbye too.

Israel will take out the Iranian air defenses and command and control first, then go to town on their infrastructure and air force.

The Israelis intelligence know when the Mullahs fart, they start it the Jews finish it.

Yes, but over 150,000 rockets, many of which undoubtedly carry chemical weapons. And if Israelis are gassed (which WOULD happen in an all-out attack by the Hezzies), they'll likely respond with nukes (ERWs -- neutron bombs). And when that happens, it's World War time. A hot one, this time.

This story would be troubling if it came from a credible source.

LOL. I especially enjoyed the opening lines mentioning husky men, warm days, and butterflies. Makes you wonder what kind of ‘access’ this reporter really had.

Many Arabs do not seem to understand the generational change that has taken place in Israel .

The Rabin generation were the veterans of several major but senseless wars with their Arab neighbors. They were disgusted with conflict and genuinely wished to make peace with their enemies . Many of their enemies of the Rabin generation also wished to make peace with Israel.

Unfortunately for the world, the peace brokers at the time were Bill and Hillary Clinton, both of whom were major Yasser Arafat / PLO groupies who installed Arafat and the PLO as the partners for peace and Arafat and the PLO had no desire for peace with Israel

The current generation in Israel understands that they have been cheated and the only peace process the world (except for the US under Trump) offers Israel is the Peace of the Grave

Israel has responded to provocation til now with very measured response, but the next time Israel is forced to go to war their response will be anything but measured because the current generation of Israelis is under no illusions that most of the world harbors any good will or good intentions towards Israel and most of the world would be happy to see Israel cease to exist.

The current generation of Israelis are coming to grips with the reality that the next conflict will be decisive and result in the total destruction and subsequent enslavement of the State of Israel or it will leave Israel's enemies with neither the will nor the means to ever engage Israel in a follow on war

The next Arab-Israeli conflict will for all the marbles and to the death for Israelis so Israel has not the luxury of holding back or pulling any punches

Yes, but they could rain thousands of missiles on Israeli cities.

They would have to light off that many in the first few minutes.

No. They are hidden and mobile and dispersed among the civil population. They would probably be able to fire most of them. Israel must exterminate Hezbollah after the next war.

I would not want to be living in Damascus.

An evergreen statement valid any time in the past 1400 years.
