WaPo’s Ignatius: Fighters in Syria cheer at mention of Trump name

On a morning when you would have expected the Morning Joe panel to be all about Trumps CNN wrestling tweet, a Washington Post editor/columnist painted an amazingly positive portrait of the presidents actions in Syria.
WaPos David Ignatius has just returned from a week in Syria. He was almost apologetic in prefacing his remarks: Im going to say something that in some ways is sympathetic to Trump.
He then proceeded to say that he was told by top US commanders that the most daring and decisive attack in the battle of Raqqa would not have happened if it hadnt been for President Trumps decision to delegate authority to commanders in the field.

“He was almost apologetic in prefacing his remarks”
“Almost apologetic” - you could tell the guy was throwing up a little in his mouth to say this positive thing about Trump. At least he said it; he easily could’ve said nothing. Pretty good!

"In this case there was not one meeting. They just said, General Townsend, the commander in Baghdad, you decide. And three days later, these Kurds whod never seen an airplane or helicopter had been helicoptered across a lake for a surprise attack that is probably the most daring and decisive of the war."

Seriously, I am surprised that someone on that show is capable of rational thought.

Yes! That is what makes the difference in military action is that in US, our commanders have decision making authority, in Soviet Union, they decided things in the same way that Obama White House did, slowly or not at all

Ignatius was almost apologetic while telling a positive truth about Trump to his MSNBC team... But he said it.
We’ve got to give him credit for that.
But It was surprising Ignatius didn’t comfort his team later - telling them ‘not to worry’ because puffed-up elites sitting on their butts the world over - from Brussels to DC still hated Trump. Ignatius might be getting a clue.

Ignatius told the truth - but you could see it was uncomfortable for him - might be a baby step back to respectable journalism - or just a fluke.
Time will tell.

MSNBC had no choice. This was their way of apologizing for the Mika virus and Schmoe.

Thank you David, now back to our regularly scheduled crying and whining about the president’s tweets.

That a Democrat media operative saying something positive about our president makes news makes our point about how bias they are.

A bit of hyperbole, unless they have been living underground for the last 30 years.
