Tebow's signing is said to be a business decision, not a baseball decision. Excuse me, but what is the difference?

In terms of signing him, the organization is making money off the guy. He doubles or triples the gate. This is a legitimate consideration for professional baseball.

I don't know if Tebow's capacity to draw a crowd would have much impact at the big league level. But, he was only signed to a minor league contract.

Tebow's has been doing fine. He has enormous potential, in terms of power, and the big question is whether he could hit the much better pitchers you have at the professional level.

He seems to be adjusting well. Still, he's not getting around on the ball. His spray chart continues tilted to left field. His spray chart indicates room for improvement. Let's see if he continues to improve.

A generation ago, Michael Jordan showed a lot of improvement during the second half of his one year of professional baseball. Were Tebow to similarly improve from where he is at this point, he could warrant another promotion and even a look see in the bigs.

He'd definitely have a shot at making the major league team in spring training of next year. Or else begin next year in the high minors.

He’s playing well. Games are selling out. My daughter recently went to one and loved it. Seriously, who’s complaining?

I have no problem with the organization making a "business decision" to have Tebow with them. Minor league teams have a history of doing just about anything to put butts in the seats.

But Tebow making the show? I'm not so optimistic. His batting average is anemic for an outfielder and unacceptable for a DH. He's a little light on fielding percentage for a guy with his athleticism. Last report I read said Tim has trouble lifting the ball to hit flies. Power hitters have to do that.

I say more power to Tim and the Mets. The vast majority of people have no idea how hard it would be to pull off what he's trying. Mastering the skills to be a major leaguer is really, really hard.

I’ll be at the stadium when the Pt. St. Lucie Mets, with Tebow, come to town to play the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Go Gators!

this is an entertainment business

Understood.
CNN says the same thing -- the CNN audience expects lurid tales of Trump, so CNN makes up lurid tales of Trump.

But should sports:
Encourage performance enhancing drugs? Might really please the crowds!
Allow players to bet on their own games? Might really add to the suspense!
Bring back the spitball? It was popular 100 years ago!
