Study: Solar panels a looming toxic 'crisis'

The solar-energy industry has been touted for years as the environmentally safe alternative. After all, solar panels merely absorb the sun’s energy and transfer it to consumers. No oily pipelines, no obstructions to the nation’s waterways.

But it appears all is not well for fans of the industry.

Discarded solar panels, piling up around the world, are detrimental to the environment, according to a new study by Environmental Progress.

And carcinogenic.

And teratogenic.

While environmentalist have warned for decades of the hazard of nuclear power, solar panels produce 300 times more toxic waste per unity of energy than nuclear power plants, warns Berkeley, California-based EP.

Discarded solar panels not only contain lead, but chromium and cadmium – both of which are carcinogenic. Cadmium is present in cigarette smoke and is blamed for the development of kidney problems.

Oh, THOSE unintended consequences. Think I read somewhere recently that in order to produce 1 ton of crystals for solar panels, it also produces like 9 tons of toxic waste during the process. Kinda like the battery problem that is only going to get worse once the tesla giga plant gets in to full swing. Not to mention abandoned wind generators spoiling one's view shed.

Besides that, there another potential negative impact that’s easy to research. Solar farms have a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Consider the butterfly effect (small changes at the onset lead to large impacts caused by the chain they create). Those changed environments surrounding solar farms can lead to really bad consequences over time.

So why the disconnect? This toxic reality, along with the detriments to electric cars and wind power let us know this is all agenda driven rather than by technological and market forces. It all just adds in to the ease of being a climate skeptic. If one says it isn’t about the toxic residue, but rather reducing CO2 emissions, then one is still stuck on why not nuclear?

was my understanding that solar panels were mostly silicon and minute traces of a doping agent along copper traces a few solder joints - but mostly sand

Well, reportedly, in NV at the YUGE solar plant south of Vegas, “all” the gopher tortoise were rounded up and relocated with the understanding that they could not return to their former homes. I’m sure they obey any signs placed warning them to not enter the area. But you have to look down by your feet to see them.

Why not nukes? As creepy uncle joe might say; “One word. Fuka Shima tidal wave.”

Can’t remember where I saw it but the process to get the silicon to the level of “purity”(?) ended up with 9 tons of toxic sludge per 1 ton of ‘clean enough silicone’. I’ll see if I can find it.

And yet The National Training Center at Fort Irwin remains under decades old attacks to relocate Desert Tortoises. The expense is staggering consider the numbers of critters involved. The last attack by the Center for Biological Diversity (there's a clue as to who they really are) stopped Marine traing excercises despite a well thought out plan for relocating the slow movers out of the live fire artillery range. CBC alleges the move no matter how carefully done would result in psychological trauma and untold deaths.

Yet not a peep regarding regarding the trauma the tortoises you mentioned might, could, would, maybe, possibly, it could happen, and the thousands of birds fried by solar concentrators. Nor Bald Eagles and other birds pureed by giant wind rotors.

If Trump had not proposed solar panels for the “Wall” would we even have heard about this “problem”?

Last time I looked the bald eagle was at the top of the list of protected bird species. They are protected under penalty of law,but apparently some “renewable energy” providers are exempt from that law. Why is this? I would personally rather see bald eagles flying than those huge wind turbines rotating or the big solar arrays frying birds.

I’m thinking DJT just pulled in another big fish - “Big Mouth Liberals”

He threw out the line last week - baited it with “solar powered wall - my idea”

Now that it’s supposedly HIS idea, they scrambled to get the truth out regarding how toxic solar power really is/will be.

So now, if he cuts back on solar power - what can they say? THEY have put out the massive report against solar power.

Pres. DJT, the Master fisherman.
