House Republicans took action Thursday to crack down on illegal immigrants and the cities that shelter them.
One bill passed by the House would deny federal grants to sanctuary cities and another, Kate’s Law, would increase the penalties for deported aliens who try to return to the United States.
Kate's Law, which would increase the penalties for deported aliens who try to return to the United States and caught, passed with a vote of 257 to 157, with one Republican voting no and 24 Democrats voting yes.
Kate's Law is named for Kate Steinle, a San Francisco woman killed by an illegal immigrant who was in the U.S. despite multiple deportations. The two-year anniversary of her death is on Saturday.

True, but not just faithless Republicans. Dems can use various Senate rules and parliamentary nonsense to kill them. I never let Dems off the hook even if Repubs screw things up.

Seven republicans voted no on denying grant money to sanctuary cities. The democrats and republicans that voted no on both these bills need to be publicly humiliated. The families that suffered losses because of these issues need to run ads against every one of these traitors. I wonder how the Senate will tally?

Every senator should be forced to publicly watch the stories told by the victim’s families as told by them at their meeting with the President yesterday, and then get up and tell the American people why they are against it.
This just penalizes the illegal aliens who return after being deported...
what about the ones who come here illegally the first time...
and how about addressing them by the term our immigration law gives them...
