NYT Finally Retracts Russia-gate Canard [MSM Fake News]
Consortiumnews.com ^ | 29 June 2017 | Robert Parry

The New York Times has finally admitted that one of the favorite Russia-gate canards – that all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies concurred on the assessment of Russian hacking of Democratic emails – is false.

On Thursday, the Times appended a correction to a June 25 article that had repeated the false claim, which has been used by Democrats and the mainstream media for months to brush aside any doubts about the foundation of the Russia-gate scandal and portray President Trump as delusional for doubting what all 17 intelligence agencies supposedly knew to be true.

In the Times’ White House Memo of June 25, correspondent Maggie Haberman mocked Trump for “still refus[ing] to acknowledge a basic fact agreed upon by 17 American intelligence agencies that he now oversees: Russia orchestrated the attacks, and did it to help get him elected.”

However, on Thursday, the Times – while leaving most of Haberman’s ridicule of Trump in place – noted in a correction that the relevant intelligence “assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community.”

The Times’ grudging correction was vindication for some Russia-gate skeptics who had questioned the claim of a full-scale intelligence assessment, which would usually take the form of a National Intelligence Estimate (or NIE), a product that seeks out the views of the entire Intelligence Community and includes dissents.

NYT correction:

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/06/25/us/politics/trumps-deflections-and-denials-on-russia-frustrate-even-his-allies.html

The Deep State got their Special Counsel with a jurisdiction to investigate Donald Trump to search for any kind of "link" with Russia. (not a crime, by the way.)

So now that the key goal has been met, the MSM is starting to back-pedal.

Now they can wait as the Special Counsel goes to work and months from now the MSM will start leaking about Trump's tax evasion, loan fraud, environmental violations, zoning violations, or whatever the corrupt FBI and the Special Counsel lawyers can turn up in their investigation of Trump and leak to their MSM allies.

The real scandal in the context of the “17 agencies” baloney is that not a single person from any of those agencies came out in public to tell the truth. Not one. What kind of deeply corrupt government do we have?

Shrillary first made that “17 intel agencies” b.s. claim in one of the debates, 8 months ago!!! It has taken until now for anyone in the MSM to acknowledge the deceptive nature of that claim. They are all such scummy propagandists.

I think it’s funny they took the statement from Hillary completely out of context and created their own fake narrative that they used for a year

John Batchelor and Stephen F. Cohen said the “17 agencies” story was a canard, Tuesday night on Batchelor’s WABC show.

They said it was either Brennan or Comey (I don’t remember which), who testified to Congress a few weeks ago, that there was no review by the 17 agencies.

But it took the NYT until today to admit it.

On the same show, Batchelor and Cohen also made the very good point, that the DNC refused to let the FBI examine their servers in the wake of last summer’s hack, so how could the US security agencies say it was the Russians who did the hack?

Trumps taxes are continually being audited and there has never once been even a hint of any problems. Nor imo will there be any. Had Trump EVER been charged with improprieties in this area or for tha matter it would have been leaked way before now.

The bigger question is did the four agencies that came to the disputed conclusion base said conclusions on a fake dossier and what was their evidence? Were the politically appointed heads of these four agencies using overwhelming evidence from their staffs or did the politically use the fake dossier instead?

This should be a major story. This 17 intelligence agencies BS was thrown around several weeks or months before and after the election on November 8, over and over as proof of Russian hacking and to insinuate that the Trump campaign was somehow involved.

Anybody care to venture a guess as to what that fake news cost all of us? There needs to be a consequence for pushing that BS news, perhaps jail time.

-- The real scandal in the context of the "17 agencies" baloney is that not a single person from any of those agencies came out in public to tell the truth. Not one. What kind of deeply corrupt government do we have? --

The thuggish kind.

On May 23, in testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, former CIA Director John Brennan confirmed Clapper's account about the three agencies involved.

"It wasn't a full inter-agency community assessment that was coordinated among the 17 agencies, and for good reason because of the nature and the sensitivity of the information trying, once again, to keep that tightly compartmented," Brennan said.

That the report was not by 17 agencies was known during the campaign, and crooked Hillary was mocked for the contention, almost immediately. See Fred Fleitz October 20, 2016 article in National Review

On the other hand, here is Politifacts asserting crooked Hillary's claim was true.

Yes, 17 intelligence agencies really did say Russia was behind hacking - USA Toady

Two weeks ago, Stephanoplis was asserting the claim as factual. Stephanopoulos Parrots '17 Intelligence Agencies' Lie

Here is the LA Times on it, There's more than the CIA and FBI (Jan 17, 2017)

The U.S. intelligence community recently reaffirmed its conclusion that senior officials in Russia were behind hacks during the 2016 presidential campaign into the Democratic National Committee and emails belonging to associates of Hillary Clinton.

But what exactly is the "intelligence community?" It's not just an amorphous term for all U.S. intelligence officials. It's a veritable alphabet soup of 17 agencies and offices.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's appearance at the 2017 Code Conference

Mossberg: This is 17 agencies ...

Hillary Clinton: Seventeen agencies, all in agreement, which I know from my experience as a Senator and Secretary of State, is hard to get. They concluded with high confidence that the Russians ran an extensive information war campaign against my campaign, to influence voters in the election.
