If you are done venting, how much do you think Members of Congress should be paid? We should, of course, have term limits. The big problem with Congress isn’t the pay; it’s the rampant careerism and the self-perpetuating CYA logrolling that goes along with it. Limit the terms (I’m partial to 12 years, but we can defer that discussion for now), and then we can talk pay.
There is a large area, about 5 acres, on Bolling Air Force Base that is sitting empty since the family housing was torn down 5 years ago. I suggest that a barracks, built to standards for junior enlisted personnel be built there as a housing facility for members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. That way they will have standard military housing that they think is good enough for junior enlisted personnel. Plus it is only a 2.5 mile walk to Capitol Hill.
Good suggestion!
It is still a conflict of interest.
They will have the concerns for the Federal government but not for their states.
Is there room for 550 shacks behind the White House?
I can’t see why we should be buying each of these future lobbyists their own homes in DC that they can sell or pass on to their kids.
Just wait until they demand a $3,000 per month health insurance stipend.
Makes you wonder how they all got so rich. As far as housing goes, I understand Steve Scalise rooms with two other congressmen. Maybe someone should open a boarding house for congressmen. That’s where congressmen often stayed in the Old days. Also, their offices must be pretty remarkable, if they can live in them. Not to mention their office building’s gyms and cafeterias.
Don’t do either. They get paid plenty, from benefits through retirement.
Beyond that, Trump’s principle applies: do we want people that poor representing us in Congress?
OMG. Faux News just hired this rumpswab...

Avg salary across U.S.? How ‘bout their State instead? Personally, I think it should be MIN. wage; or maybe even by the hour; ain’t doing the job, you don’t get paid, like anyone else would expect.

Oh, that should be PART of the ‘fix’...12 sounds good. I’d also add, no lobbying for 10yrs upon termination of govt employment (ALL levels).
Plus, all govt employees must prototype any/all Law for ~5 yrs., NO exemptions before, during or after.
