I’m really glad they have these people off the street. But I find it really depressing that these sting operations always seem to find so many of these perverts. Is the supply inexhaustible?
They always catch someone in a sting. Because if no one bites they start using more aggressive tactics, like going on to adult websites such as match.com, plenty of fish, among many others posting as 18-20 year olds. Then after days of communicating saying they are 16 or 17. Then they encourage meets and lead the chat into a sexual nature.
Look up “florida internet stings” to learn about some massive LEO over-reach.

What really bothers me is that TV shows like Dateline run stings all the time. For the first year or two, I could understand them catching people that way...with traps set...it was a new, and almost unknown, thing.
But now EVERY PREDATOR knows about Dateline and the stings...yet they continue to think they won’t get caught and fall right into those traps.
So yes, it does seem that the supply is inexhaustible.

I worked with older detective who investigated these perverts for years.
He resignedly said that you could staff a room with fifty people 24 hours a day, all investigating child porn and its attendant crimes and not make much of a difference.
I offered that the answer was death penalty and he agreed but our society will never allow it, just like for dope dealing.
