Always someone suckering us into wars that are not about defending OUR freedom, borders and security. Always about entangling interests that no one can untangle. I voted for change not more of the same in the ME.

There have been earlier times when our military used some very harsh methods that apparently were very effective against Muslim terrorist actions. I don’t know if this story about General Pershing is true, but it certainly is an interesting idea for dealing with convicted terrorists. The quote below was by someone commenting at the following article: https://www.aol.com/article/news/2017/06/27/reports-unsuspecting-yazidi-sex-slave-fed-her-own-child-isis/23005103/

“Just before World War I, there were a number of terrorist attacks against the United States and it’s interests by, you guessed it, Muslim extremists.
So General Pershing captured 50 of the terrorists and had them tied to posts execution style. He then had his men bring in two pigs and slaughter them in front of the, now horrified, terrorists.
The soldiers then soaked their bullets in pigs blood, and proceeded to execute 49 of the terrorists by firing squad.
The soldiers then dug a big hole, dumped in the terrorist’s bodies and covered them in pig blood, entrails, etc.
They let the 50th man go. And for about the next 42 years, there was not a single attack by a muslim fanatic anywhere in the world.”

Something along that line should be practiced.
Unfortunately, even though the Geneva Conventions allow it, we don’t seem to have the guts to execute the ‘partisans’ and bandits.
It is best though, if we just get the heck out. We have no lasting worthwhile achievements to point at in the ME. More of the same will not improve things.

Unfortunately I don’t think we can afford to step out. Leaving the field to the super vicious ISIS forces means they would eventually take over large swaths of that area and acquire nuclear weapons and have no qualms about using them.

I think Assad and the Russians can handle ISIS and the ‘rebels’ if we stop helping them (ISIS and rebels).
