...”Good, I see the Churchill bust in that photo.”...
YES! I just finished reading “Clementine, The Life of Mrs. Winston Churchill,” by Sonia Purnell. I absolutely could not put this book down until I had read all 391 pages. The book describes not only the relationahip between Winston and Clementine, but it also thoroughly covers the political times they lived in and his career of successes and failures in politics. Interesting that he stood, alone, just like our Donald Trump, against those around him as he warned of the danger of Hitler. He also warned of Stalin, even though our President Roosevelt choose to admire Stalin over Churchill which was a huge disappointment to Churchill. Churchill had his foibles but, in the end, the world had to admit that he was a genius. Both Clementine and Winston served their nation, most of the time under duress and the tragedies which came within their own family. RIP, Prime Minister and Mrs. Churchill. The world is still remembering you and what you did for freedom.
Winston Churchill was IMO the greatest leader ever in the history of the world. At a time when his nation was down for the count with seemingly nowhere to turn he carried them through their darkest days.
I never tire of listening to his “...we shall fight them on the beaches, we shall fight them in the fields, we shall fight them in the streets....”
Wonderful, wonderful man.
GET and Truman populated (kept in place) hundreds of communist-socialists on the White House and State Dept staff and advisors and policy makers.
Putting that book on my Reading List. Thanks! :)
