The United States is gradually being drawn into the war in Syria. That war began as a conflict in which we had no national security interest. That changed because two of our principal adversaries, Russia and Iran, took over that war, making the conflict much larger than just a civil war against the terrorist regime of Bashar Assad.
Syria still isn’t worth — in Bismarckian terms — the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier, far less an American soldier, sailor, airman or Marine. Three have died there, so far. One was the victim of an improvised explosive device, one was killed in a truck accident, and one reportedly died of natural causes. There will be more.
One American, a journalist named Austin Tice, is reportedly being held hostage by the Syrian government.
Things have been heating up in Syria lately. Two Sundays ago, a Navy F/A-18 shot down a Syrian Su-22 after it had dropped a bomb close to the Kurdish forces allied with us in striking at ISIS. After that, Russia announced that it would have its anti-aircraft missile batteries target any U.S. aircraft that strayed west of the Euphrates River.

WTF is this??? The United States STARTED the war in Syria!!! Obama and John McCain created ISIS because they decided that Assad had to go after he said ‘No’ to the Arab gas pipeline across Syria.

Rather than another endless war, how about we just supply Israel with whatever they wish, and eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat.
I can think of several enticements for Russia to participate in this effort, most importantly an agreement to no longer interfere in their historical sphere of influence along the Black Sea.
And the Baltics.

With Russia asserting itself, we end up in another ridiculous Cold War effort between supposed Super Powers. We should let Russia have this one.

Yes, the U.S. initiated the war in Syria as part of the overall “Arab Spring” process in the Middle East. It is/was a joint Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton project.
I would not say that ISIS was created by McCain and Obama, but they were instrumental in setting up the conditions that allowed it to grow.
Typical CIA strategy. Borrow somebody else’s bodies to servant as you infantry (cannon fodder) then all the CIA has to do is provide intel, air support & a few merc/contractors. That works right up until a major adversary decides to up the ante.
