EDGEWATER -- The bed is on an elevated bunk. Below the bed is a desk, dressed with items from college: clothes, books and accessories. The floor is barely visible beneath a slew of still-stuffed bags of clothes.

In 2016, Dina Bardakh, 23, uprooted her life from Hunter College, along with the degree in political science she received, and plopped down inside the 273-square-foot room of her mother's two-bedroom modest apartment alongside the Hudson River.

A year later Bardakh is still there, in the room she shares with her two teenage sisters.

The Northeast has many wonderful things, but is becoming an unlivable nightmare in too many ways.

“In 2016, Dina Bardakh, 23, uprooted her life from Hunter College, along with the degree in political science...”

And a political science degree teaches: America sucks, capitalism is evil, northern European socialism rules.

So grads like Dina, take no risks, start no businesses, have no hope, expect gov to “do something for them”.

Good Lord, another sob story where everything and everybody is to blame, not the loser young adult. She chose “political science.” She apparently doesn’t have the intelligence, initiative, or sheer willpower to succeed. Then some consultant blames state of NJ for no the “investing” enough. It’s funny that none of my nieces and nephews, sons and daughters have had any problem getting careers going.

There’s another person who should be unemployed; the author of the article: “Her and her boyfriend are moving to Colorado Sept. 1...”

That’s what a college degree gets you these days — illiteracy.

Rant, rant, rant...pant, pant, pant. OK, I’m done.

geexe louise...they need to get more compelling stories

and earns $16 an hour, or about $467 a week after taxes...
To get to work, she relies on the (increasingly unreliable) New Jersey Transit system and pays $300 a month. With $25,000 in student loans, her hopes of a settling down in a place of her own in New Jersey with her longtime boyfriend quickly evaporated. (Her student loan payments are currently deferred because of her low salary.)

300 bucks a month transportation and no student loan payments yet...what else does she spend her money on ?

Isn’t there a political science factory where she could work?

I guess the allure of legal pot will cure her ills in Colorado.

Good question as to where her money goes. I wish they had delved into that.

So she takes home about $2000 a month, after taxes. Spends $300 for the bus/train. Does she pay her mom rent to live there? If so, probably a few hundred there. A few hundred for groceries. Unless she has some unusual huge expenses, she should be able to save several hundred a month, and under the principle of deferred gratification, she and her bf could find themselves saving for the future.

You really would have to see her monthly budget to see where she really stands.

Based on her photo I would say she would be qualified to work at the DMV.

Sounds like she can’t even organize the stuff in her room — never mind her life.

“Based on her photo I would say she would be qualified to work at the DMV.”

More likely Walmart——an extraordinarily unattractive young woman.

She doesn’t like she’ll do much skiing, camping, and hiking in the mountains of Colorado.

I am going to give you a different take on this.

The real problem is that New Jersey is stifled by regulations of all kinds.

Housing is very expensive because meeting all of the new regulations on construction has increased the cost of new buildings. Regulations on business mean no new industries developing. This leads to increased supply of labor, driving down wages.

Nothing at all that eliminating 60% of government wouldn’t solve.

Well she looks like she eats 3 meals a day at McDonalds.

Hair stolen from the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz.

Started a useless Political Science degree.

3 time loser.
