A promise made before Christmas is fizzling before the Fourth of July.
In December, then-President-elect Trump told hundreds of workers at the Carrier manufacturing plant that he had worked out a deal to save their jobs.
But it's not working out that way. A steady downpour today did little to wash away the fact that the jobs of 600 union employees are going south. "They're going to Monterrey, Mexico," said Robert James, president of the local union.
Reynolds said he felt betrayed, since Mr. Trump told workers during his December visit to the plant that 1,100 jobs would be saved.
Watch: Trump touts Carrier jobs deal in fiery victory rally. "And by the way, that number is going to go up very substantially as they expand this area, this plant," Mr. Trump said. "So the 1,100 is going to be a minimum number."
Blasting companies for moving American jobs abroad was a feature of the Trump campaign, and saving the Carrier jobs was touted as a sign of Mr. Trump's bargaining prowess.
"You're going to have a good Christmas," he said at the plant.

Are you lying on purpose or perhaps just stupid?
Trump didn’t make an ironclad promise that jobs would never go south. He said if they did he would impose a stiff penalty on goods coming back. And I believe the argument was about preventing the factory from shutting down; not saving every single job.
Before President Trump even went there to work out a deal with Carrier, they were already planning to move to Mexico, they have a building there ready to go...
Yes I feel sorry for the people working, but this was Carrier’s plan all along...but when they go to Mexico and build their product there, watch out the tariff President Trump is going to charge them, he already warned them of this as he has of all who said they would build here...
Don’t think for a second President Trump doesn’t mean what he says, they won’t be making more money in Mexico, nor China nor anywhere else, here is where you will be making the money...
Carrier has screwed the pouch, and now they will pay!!!
Its Carrier that is letting them down, and letting Trump down. Now Trump needs to do what he said he’d do, and hit them with that 35% surtax.
Same with Ford if it moves to China.
On the bright side, they’re Union jobs so. Hey, I got an idea. Go on strike.
Did Trump say... “If you like your job, you can keep your job.” ???
Did Trump say... “If you like your job, you can keep your job.” ???
Good one!
(dammit), (why didn't I think of that one)?
Do they have a factory in Mexico? Where are the 600 working in Mexico?
Funny they do not feel betrayed by Carrier, who is deciding to move their jobs.

“Its Carrier that is letting them down, and letting Trump down.”
Yup.
Hit ‘em with Hugh Tariffs.
None of which has anything to do with the poster lying about the source.
And how many taxpayer dollars to give the Carrier Ceo a great Christmas bonus? Trump let the ceo lie to him, as it came out later some of the money as being used to automate.
Sure, it’s all Trump’s fault rather than the CEO’s of the company.
Maybe Trump is feeling betrayed too. But has the fat lady sung yet?
actually, iirc, these layoffs were planned anyway. the media is spinning this like it is a broken promise, but it isn’t.
trump’s deal did save jobs, but there were going to be jobs lost anyway.
that is my recollection.
let’s not be so quick to jump on the media bandwagon. they’ll always find people to complain.
MSNBC is B.S. News, especially when it comes to DJT.
