Why wasn’t this creature charged with manslaughter?

A couple weeks ago Amanda Hawkins in Kerrville and now this in Weatherford.

If I am reading a summary correctly, she was charged with a first degree felony. Life or 25 - 99 years for each count. Manslaughter would be 2-20 (2nd degree felony).

I guess she was charged this way because the authorities wanted to crack down on her.

I think this one constitutes 2nd degree murder - depraved indifference.

Manslaughter is a lesser crime than murder.

Even so, she will get a sentence far, far less harsh than a man or dad would receive for the exact same thing. On average only 1/3 what a man gets for the same crime.

Sorry didnt see it was first degree injury until i reread it.

See this is exactly what I am talking about. Men would get manslaughter or 2nd degree murder.
