Far more than Sunni/Shia.
Kurds are secular in Syria.
Assad = Alawites (Shia, way light)
Turks are Islamist. Like MB and ISIS.
Arabs in N. Syria have seen ISIS, never want to go there again.
As a consequence of ISIS brutality, the communities liberated by the Kurds & later the SDF have formed their own local assemblies by election. Largely representing in proportion to ethnic makeup.
There is far more support for secular government after ISIS.
I don’t know about Syria farther to the South.
