Tariffs are codified in the US Constitution as a way of fund the Federal government. Which worked well up when the progs took control in 1913.
I agree. I am not personally terrified by tariffs.
They can be used improperly, but in certain instances they can be a good thing, and certainly a motivator when it comes to nations who game the system as we know China has.
Small tariffs are reasoned.
As for that being a tax on citizens, they’re certainly better than toll roads, death taxes, and a myriad of other taxes nobody seem to get exercised over.
They are certainly better than being a cash pipeline to a nation that is intent on replacing the United States as top dog on the planet.
