Trump: Mueller’s Friendship With Comey Is ‘Very Bothersome’
NY Post ^ | 06/23/17 | Yaron Steinbuch

President Trump said it is “very bothersome” that the man investigating possible ties between his presidential campaign and Russia is good friends with ousted FBI director James Comey.

The president was asked in an interview to be broadcast Friday morning on “Fox and Friends” whether special counsel Robert Mueller should step down because of his relationship with Comey.

“We’re going to have to see,” Trump replied.

Should have thought of that before you selected him.

“very bothersome” ... sounds just like typical political weasel-speak.

The President did not select Muller. Deputy AG Rosenstein did. The whole chain of events that resulted in Mueller’s appointment stinks to high heaven. It’s way too cute by half. Sessions gets asked a pointed question during his confirmation hearing about recusing himself if necessary. He promises to do so. Sure enough, shortly after he’s sworn in, some excuse is found and he recuses. He also hires Rosenstein as his deputy. Rosenstein has ties to the Dems. He recommends Corey’s firing, giving Comey an opportunity to sneakily arrange for a special counsel to be appointed. Enter his good friend Mueller, who immediately sets about hiring a bunch of slick Dem lawyers. Disgusting.

And he has good reason to. Should've cleaned out DOJ on Day 1.

Look, this whole chain of events - Sessions recusing himself and then Rosenstein caving in and appointing an establishment liberal as special counsel to investigate nonsensical, unsubstantiated claims of Russian interference is breathtakingly Republican in it's self-destructiveness and incompetence.

In a similar situation, Obama and the Democrats would never have caved like this. Outside the Beltway, no one takes the Russia allegations seriously and even inside the Beltway no one with a brain takes them seriously. The GOP is so used to trying to appease liberals at Beltway dinner parties that it's become reflexive.

Exactly.

Yeah, but the MSM-Democrats would have been defending Obama with everything they have, wall-to-wall 24-7, instead of attacking him with everything they have, as they did in this case.

So that’s your theory, eh?

Please explain these “ties to Democrats”. Rosenstein is a Republican who has investigated the Clintons in the past (Whitewater) and later obtained a guilty plea from a crooked general who was then pardoned by Obama. He was one of the 46 United States Attorneys ordered on March 10, 2017 to resign by Attorney General Jeff Sessions; Trump declined his resignation and appointed him as Deputy AG, which requires Senate confirmation so he was not just “hired”.

The man has a stellar education and background of experience and was put in this job specifically by AG Sessions and the President. So please give us the benefit of the information you so casually toss out as fact.

We get enough fake news as it is.

President Trump did not select Mueller. The Deputy AG did.

Sessions, what’s up with? I still don’t understand why he recused himself.

Trump's playing this odd "investigation" well.

I'm not convinced this is a grand, well orchestrated plan by the deep state to take down Trump. It seems foolish and flimsy at best.

With the Handel blow out (yes, it was a blow out. Thirty mil spent, lost by almost 6 points), the dems are in disarray. If Mueller actually goes after Trump on "obstruction", They won't be able to impeach with this kind of conflict of interest.

Trump just let it be known how conflicted Comey and Mueller are. It was pretty devastating.

#winning.
