The hacking of state and local election databases in 2016 was more extensive than previously reported, including at least one successful attempt to alter voter information, and the theft of thousands of voter records that contain private information like partial Social Security numbers, current and former officials tell TIME.
In one case, investigators found there had been a manipulation of voter data in a county database but the alterations were discovered and rectified, two sources familiar with the matter tell TIME. Investigators have not identified whether the hackers in that case were Russian agents.
The fact that private data was stolen from states is separately providing investigators a previously unreported line of inquiry in the probes into Russian attempts to influence the election. In Illinois, more than 90% of the nearly 90,000 records stolen by Russian state actors contained drivers license numbers, and a quarter contained the last four digits of voters’ Social Security numbers, according to Ken Menzel, the General Counsel of the State Board of Elections.

Russian ‘State’ means Russian government. This is the first I have heard of this. Likely it’s TIME trying to seep some subliminal narratives past the lazy eyes of readers.

This is getting real confusing. Leaders within the Obama administration have already said several times no voting was altered or changed by hackings. And Jeh Johnson, the DHS head just testified to this fact 2 days ago, so why is this story running? Is this more fake news from the MSM?
So the cover story the government is using to hide their own hacking of state voting records is that the Russians did it. Who believes that shop worn story?

Won’t the dem response be that Russian hackers spoofed the DHS IP address in their attempt to infiltrate the state voter systems?
That was related to something totally different.
The only documented incursions into state board of elections systems that I’m aware were in Republican-controlled states and the incursions were at the hands of the DHS.
Is this what they’re floating out there with sketchy information, in order to further their fantastical delusions about the election being hacked by Russians so Donald Trump would win?
I suspect the Federal Government was the one doing the hacking. We already know from a published report from the Feds in late 2015 that they know how to mimic an attack and fake an IP address that leads to nowhere. So..... do the math. Did the Feds set this just in case Hillary lost? Now they are exploiting something that they did themselves?
Yep, pretty diabolical stuff if true, and I wouldn’t put it past the Obama/Clinton Gang to do something like that. But then, when you have controlled opposition like the GOP, why wouldn’t you try something like this? They know they’ll get away with it.
It was the DHS that hacked the Georgia voter system, and they refuse to explain why. Maybe because Georgia refused to let the federal foxes guard their state henhouse?
Given that the US intel community has the ability to put the “fingerprints” of Russia (or anybody else they want) on the databases, somebody in the US government should tell us why we should believe that any of these “hacks” were not really from the “deep state”, who we KNOW want to frame Trump AND start a war with Russia. They have the motive, means, and opportunity. So why should we believe them when they point the finger at Russia, when they have illegally garnered for themselves the very ability to frame Russia and other convenient actors?
What was revealed by Wikileaks NEEDS to be processed. EVERY piece of evidence is suspect now, because the CIA and NSA have the ability to frame anybody. They have just rendered ALL evidence suspect. And THAT is a major, major problem that NOBODY has been willing to address.
Maybe that's why they refused the help of the DHS after their emails were hacked. Like Trey Gowdy said yesterday: "what else was on their servers they didn't want the government to see?"
