The most maddening aspect of the FBI’s report is that the suspect’s photos of a nondescript baseball field - taken within days of a NYT report that Republicans practiced there (with minimal security!) - was of no significance. This is either gross, inexcusable incompetence, or willful falsification and misrepresentation.

He was a screaming homo. The movie J. Edgar was pretty accurate. And no, it wasn’t Oliver Stone that made the movie J. Edgar. It happened to be directed by a guy named Clint Eastwood.
Hoover was a progressive era Woodrow Wilson follower. And lots of homos are very much into the neat and tidy “clean and moral” thing. Lots of perverts are that way. They push the world to be what they wish they were. Joe Paterno, Sandusky, Hastert, Hitler and his non smoking vegan faux moralism, etc.
And his manipulative use of blackmail is a perfect blueprint for the Comey we saw. Comey = Hoover.

There are many reasons why I stay outside of DC as much as is possible.
Very disruptive but we do have plenty of other federal law enforcement agencies out there.
Roman history buff that I am, I think decimation would be a better solution. Unfortunately we couldn't do it in the proper Roman manner, ie divide them up into groups of 10, let them vote on who should be gotten rid of, then have the 9 survivors club the selected agent to death. I'm afraid the best we could get away with these days is just instituting a 10% reduction in force. Select 10% of the FBI workforce at random at random, not on the basis of job performance, rank or seniority. Just a random 10% RIF. Like in business, a layoff.
I have a feeling that if someone a year or two later suggested that the FBI was leaking too much or not having the desired impact on terrorism things would quickly take care of themselves.

There is no evidence that Hoover was a homo or a cross dresser. These accusations came from his enemies and were accepted as fact by the press to discredit him.
I don't think Ruby Ridge and Waco did much for their sorry a$$ reputation either.
Some human came to these conclusions, which are just plain bizarre. Someone is on the loose in the agency who has very poor judgement.
The media did not cover these stories while he was alive.
His Mafia paid vacations in NYC at La Costa were not openly discussed until after his death.

However if you are a pervert and former Republican House of Representative speaker and you are being blackmailed, to hell with the blackmail, sent the guy to jail for money laundering and lying to an FBI officer. If you are a perverted Democrat (like Hillary or Bill) and you lie to the FBI, well that is just different, because you are above the law.

I’m glad to see this article. I listened to some of this fool’s press conference and had to hit the remote. I thought I was losing my mind. Very reminiscent of Comey’s “Yeah, Clintoon committed crimes but she didn’t ‘intend’ too.” Bizarre is an understatement. If the DC cops hadn’t dusted this guy, the FBI would have let him off.
The Constitution says that the president controls the executive branch, not Congress.
