So what exactly is the USA’s role and strategy. I still fail to see any “good” guys outside Kurds nor see any great effort to exterminate the ISIS cockroaches. Someone here said it is like the Spanish Civil War.

I was at Incirlik in 1982. I hated it. I never understood how we could EVER be allies with them. I still don't. The Turks are NOT our friends.

I agree with your post except for one phrase — “Islamists against Islamists”. Erdogan & his Turkish forces are Islamists; the Kurds & their alliance members are not.
