A Queen's Speech is meant to be an expression of the power of the executive.
The moment when the Government, and No 10 in particular, expresses its power through the words of the Monarch to Parliament.
This Queen's Speech though is the first in 39 years given on behalf of a minority Government. And that is a very different beast.
The power is with Parliament, both the hung House of Commons and the House of Lords which will not now respect the Salisbury Convention.
So the speech needs to breathe consensus and avoid controversy.

The only nation in the Euro zone that I’d consider ‘strong’ would be Germany. The next five nations after that....are a big step down. When you go and look at unemployment numbers, there are a dozen countries in the EU with major problems.
The only region that I’d say is pulling ahead...are the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway). If you look at recovery since 2008...the whole of the Med is still in first gear and barely moving toward recovery.
Look at the continued loan talk between Germany and Greece. More money will be sent south. Chances of Germany ever getting the money back? Marginal.
I do like their opening of Parliament traditions. A politician gets ‘kidnapped’ to ensure the Queen gets back to the palace safely, a guy carrying a stick gets a door slammed in his face to signify Parliament’s independence and an anti-monarchy MP makes a customary heckle from the galleries. This year it was telling everyone to get a move on so the Queen can go watch the horse racing.

Greeces Economy Bounced Back in First Quarter

Greece GDP up 0.4% while UK up 0.2% - Look at that.
Greeks getting a huge plus-up on tourism because most Germans are negative on Turkey. You saw some indications of that in Aug/Sep of last year. Appears to be the same story for spring and now going into summer vacation period of Germany.
What I saw first hand last Aug/Sept was hotels completely booked up in Germany. I hardly think German tourists improved GDP by such a margin in Greece.
I’d appreciate it if you provide some links in the future, instead of unsubstantiated assertions that typically provide nothing more than a waste my time. Especially considering a look at this thread.
