It is nothing less than the devil, who from the beginning of his fall has selfishly sought the worship the giving Creator God alone is worthy of. And thus he seeks to create a world in which he receives this obeisance, a world with its perverse corruptions of what God ordained, with the sanctified union of male and female being a most fundamental part of that.
Add to that the effective worship of creation itself (not as creation but godless evolution) and you have the spiritual declension of Romans 1.
