Today almost no one lives on a farm or sees death very often. I suspect that even farmers buy their meat in a store. Our civilization is now composed of people who think chocolate milk comes from brown cows and meat comes from Styrofoam packages. We live in antiseptic bubbles surrounded by art and music. After the end of WWI Wilson rounded up millions of Mexicans to free up the jobs they were doing for Americans returning from the war. Also, the US Army was used to kick former soldiers out of Washington where they had established camps and demanded a war bonus they had been promised. I saw some footage of the wild action there as the unarmed men were run down on horseback and beaten. But that footage probably never made it into theaters.
In the 1950’s Eisenhower tried to deport millions of Mexicans here illegally for the same reason Wilson did. But television had come along and Operation Wetback was stopped well short of its goal because the American public couldn’t bear the sounds of wailing women and crying children with their evening meal. I don’t think any serious large scale deportation could take place anywhere in the western world, not given the current political climate and the twenty-four hour demand for dramatic entertainment news.
Only when all of the citizens see the danger posed by the invasion of other cultures AND the media goes along with the policy can any serious deportation take place. On top of the hothouse flower-minded citizens other reasons keeping refugees from leaving are all the aid agencies, public and private, who exist to make the refugees more comfortable. Who is going to leave when the food trucks show up regularly and feed you?
Unfortunately, by the time the average public and the thick-headed media believe the invasion must be stopped it will be, for all practical purposes, impossible.
