Coming out of low humidity and into 90% humidity in the middle of summer has caused a lot of discomfort for several friends of mine who came here from California and it’s a common difficulty, that’s why I brought it up. I’ve seen some houses in central Florida that were pretty cool, deep porches all the way around and the center of the house was designed almost like an air shaft with clerestory windows. Floor to ceiling windows on the porch level. Looked like it might make things more than tolerable to me. They called them Cracker Houses. Apparently Florida Crackers had their own distinct architectural style.
