We’re all gonna die!

And there’s not a thing we can do about it.

Yellowstone Eruption: The Zones

The biggest concern with an eruption the size of Yellowstone is ashfall. The force would shoot ash into the atmosphere up to 30 kilometres high where the easterly jetstream would carry it as far away as Europe within three days.

The volcano would also eject sulphuric acid into the air forming an aerosol that remains in the atmosphere for years, screening out sunlight, causing global temperatures to drop and killing crops for years afterward.

Even 1 millimetre of ash will close airports, cause damage to vehicles and houses, and contaminate water supplies.

To get a more specific idea of how an eruption would affect us in North America, experts looked back to the amount of ash that fell during a similar super eruption 2 million years ago. From geological evidence, they are able to create a map which breaks North America into six zones. Taking population and infrastructure into account, planners are able to estimated possible fatalities and economic losses. The overall loss is staggering. According to Doug Bausch, a Senior Scientist at FEMA: “In terms of direct economic damages, a three trillion dollar number is reasonable for this event. It’s about 20 percent of our U.S. Gross Domestic Product.”

The last time it blew it was 2,500 times bigger than St Helens.

Many times bigger than Tambora which caused the year without summer in the NE states-early 1800s, famine throughout the earth.

With the magma chamber they know that is under there, were are looking at a global event that will eliminate at least one half of the earths population.

Doesnt matter if your a survivalist or not. You will starve, except you might make it a little longer than the rest of us.

Glad I’ve moved a further thousand miles eastward
but with the attendant global cooling, I’ll probably freeze my tush off.

The Yellowstone volcano is a liberal, it is acting like a Hollywood liberal, but I think I insulted the Yellowstone volcano for comparing it to liberals from Hollywood, the volcano is smarter... 😀
