Silo: We will retaliate regime forces if their attacks continue

SDF Spokesperson General Talal Silo stated that their forces would use their right to legitimate defense and retaliate if the regime forces continued their attacks on SDF positions.

The spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Talal Silo released a statement regarding the Syrian regime forces' attack on SDF positions near Tabqa.

The statement said the following:

“After the heroic resistance demonstrated by our troops and the allied forces against terrorism within the Wrath of Euphrates campaign launched by SDF that aims for isolating Raqqa city, and mainly after the Great Battle was started to liberate Raqqa city which is the alleged capital of terrorism and terrorists- during which our forces excellently progressed and liberated many neighborhoods already- the Baathist regime launched a deliberate and expansive attack on the areas liberated by SDF, using warplanes, artillery and tanks June 17, 2017. The attack targeted a territory liberated by SDF three months ago as part of the campaign to liberate the Tabqa town and the Euphrates Dam.

The purpose of the regime forces in this attack is to prevent the progress of the Raqqa campaign.

We confirm that if the regime forces continue their attacks on our sites in Raqqa governorate, it will oblige us to use our right to legitimate defense and retaliate.”

This is the closest I have found to an explanation to why the Syrian Jet was downed by Coalition forces near Tabqah.

These were evidently Arab elements of SDF that were attacked. And it appears to have been an attack on area that was previously liberated from ISIS.

Contact between Russia, Assad and SDF need to increase as we near the end of ISIS. Should never loose sight of the objective of ending the Terrorists.

After that is done, the final settlement within Syria will have to happen. May it be a peaceful end.

The way I read this is that Syria, like Turkey with Manbij, is attempting to appropriate battlefield successes by the SDF. ISIS is just about done, and now the jockeying for strategic positioning is beginning.

Yes, that is my take on it too.

I made some inquiries this morning trying to verify this. Have not got a response yet, but will.

It could have been a misidentification of forces. There were some late commers to the Raqqa Party that were working in the area around Tabqa and West. Those forces were from Manbij and Shahba. They may now be in the actual Raqqa assault.

I don’t even know if we are still supporting the wrong side.

Can’t tell the players without a program, and I don’t have one.

I believe we support the right side now. Has been so since Trump took over.

We had previously given air support to them under Obama. But no weapons or other support.

Yes, it is complicated who is on the “right” side. And it changes some over time.

The Jihadi’s and ISIS are clearly the wrong side. It is harder to pinpoint what Assad or Russia is on the spectrum.

The US position has shifted some over the past few months.

Assad is better than the MOBOs, no?

I had thought that Obunghole’s opposition to Assad was part of his plan to turn the entire Middle East over to the Jihadis and ISIS.

Totally correct. I knew about MB from Egyptian involvement. Before and after Morsi.

Yes, Obama was ALWAYS on the wrong side. NEVER on the right side, unless public opinion forced him.

Perhaps we should just help them eliminate the MOBOs and get out.
