With all the technology navy ships have, how can this happen?
I have a picture of the ACX Crystal course and it was doing some crazy sharp turns. A larger ship can’t get out of the way fast enough. (trying to figure out how to upload the pic)
Ship handling requires constant vigilance. There are more questions than answers at this point. Helmsman freeze. Not all officers are competent in all situations.
Agreed. An advanced US destroyer, one would think, would have the ability to know a 60,000 ton container ship, fully loaded and with the biggest radar profile of anything around, was bearing down

Incompetence at any level can be deadly.
Somebody on the bridge was playing grab ass when they should have been working. What were the lookouts doing - sleeping?
It’s fishy. I think the cargo ship turned into path of the destroyer.
Hopefully the details and the truth will slowly be revealed.
Do they have the other crew and are they being detained?

My boat had 25 mile radius scan. We continually watched the screen while on the water. How in hell did this happen to a Navy ship?
my guess:
Intentional ramming of the US ship immediately after UTURN in water by terrorist sympathizer from the muslim quarter of the island nation of the Philippines.
A coordinated attack by muslim collaborators on some of the other 400 ships that navigate that pathway every day.
Who believes that none of them could be muslim? OR that they would plot to take this action out, on their unholy days of ramadan?
The other vessel tried to hit them, and missed, but went back for another try.
