A Florida Governor can only serve two consecutive terms of four years. They then have to stay out of office for four years before running again.
So, yes, he would be good to go to run for the Senate. Governor Childs (Dem) did so.

In light of that, I now hope Rick Scott does defeat Bill Nelson because he definitely should not have to sit on the sidelines. Although, a senate seat is a step down in power compared to running an entire state.
