Very well said. We were speaking about term limits last night and the effect of 4 two year terms as max for congressmen; amend senate to 4y terms and limit to two as well. All have max. of 8 years. All senators vote same time as president.
Only midterms would be house members, and no more senate 50 vote tricks. Consider cutting lifetime app’ts for SC.

Also spoke about returning mandatory draft for two years. Punks are learning nothing from parents or teachers. Military would help some with discipline, respect and maybe even job skills.

SJ, I like those reforms.

Add one more: Repeal the 17th Amendment to kill off the Senate being a populist house; returning membership to the several State Capitols.

The Founders labored under the idea there would be no political parties and that men would act honorably and only receive the votes from those who respected honorable deeds.
That was why the idea of Term limits was explicitly rejected.

It is true that we do NOT have such an electorate or system. But it is also true that it takes several terms to just understand the operating rules of the Senate and House. They give new meaning to “Byzantine”, and “Labyrinth”.

As to the military, I somewhat agree but during the Founding it was not considered because it wasn’t necessary since every able-bodied man was part of the militia, the first-line military defenses of the nation.

BTW such changes as proposed would require constitutional amendments which won’t happen.

Worse than congress is the judiciary. A single tyrant in a blackrobe can easily negate the vote of millions. Congress has very little power today, and now the judges have usurped the power of the president in charge of immigration policy.
